Junior has poor defense. Leaves his hands at his waist often when throwing...

From an MMA standpoint, I love him. I saw him the first time vs Roy Nelson and was very impressed. There's only a few fighters and fights in the MMA and I was left being impressed by their punching/boxing ability. I like how he actually jabs and throws a good punch variation opposed to how most of those cockheads just throw overhand rights all day.

Now he wouldn't be that good in boxing, but I'm sure he would have been decent if he had trained in that his whole life. He's 6'4 239lbs, so he's a good size also.

Interesting, I think so too. Although I don't think he's the best boxer in MMA or as good as some people think.

For an MMA guy, I'm actually impressed by his natural punch selection and variations of combinations he uses. That being said, he has no clue what the **** he's doing. He stands pretty squared up (I hear a lot of MMA guys talking about its advantages to keeping it that way. I guess as a takedown defense, but whatever). He keeps his hands pretty damn low. I mean you just posted a gif where he's throwing an uppercut from like miles away and actually gets clocked while landing it. Had that been against a decent boxer, he'd be put the **** out. But he may make a great gatekeeper in today's division. He has great instinct, that punch selection and if he were to train and be brought up properly...he could be a top contender. But that's more a commentary on the **** division than his "boxing ability".

After throwing the big right hand he throws a combination of arm punches with no variation, little to no defence and bad footwork. Doesn't look much different to any of the other MMA guys stand up to be honest, that first punch comes from a nice angle but probably isn't getting through against a boxers defence

Considering the required general skills for MMA and the lack of "stick" that bare feet have vs rubber soles? His Boxing is decent, the best for the heavies, and insanely fun to watch. IMHO there are some quality Boxing skills at WW and below so being the best is debateable.

Thing is that his punch variety, timing, and commitment to a shot shows that if people want to say he does not posses "good" Boxing skill he is damned sure MORE skilled than anyone else at his weight class and most definitely from a Boxing base.

To the people roasting him about where his hands are, in a 4 ounce glove a lot of the dynamics of "keep your hands up" are out of the window. A fist is so small that you can't effectively block with your hands up. This is the reason why bare knuckle fighters fought with their hands out and blocked by turning down the forearm and raising the elbow. You have to either avoid the shot completely or stop it at the arm.

You try to shell up and he hooks instead of straight? The shot will just ride up your shoulder and clock you on the back of your head. You are going to sleep.

It's a completely different stance. Standing in a boxing stance in a sport where kicks are allowed will have you on your ass in seconds, granted your opponent has muay thai training. As for getting hit while throwing...once again, it's a completely different technique and while it looks crude to a boxer, you have to keep in mind that boxers can afford to keep their hands up and not worry about being taken down.
