    Oh is he really

dos Santos has a much better variety of shots (boxing) than Overeem , and has a very high output , Overeem will not the like the wave of attacks dos Santos throws at him and the variety of shots he has to deal with , it will require too much movement and Overeem simply doesnt have the athletesism

    He's gettin knocked out

Yes he is. Its ****ing hilarious that people actually think JDS has better striking :rofl

The only thing he has better is his speed and Overeem has faced guys who are much faster than him. Like someone else Overeem has faced plenty of guys like JDS, way better than JDS in fact but JDS has never faced anyone remotely like Overeem.

Ill be laughin at you when Overeem is on his back taking shots

dos Santos will have Overeem in positions he wont like and cannot deal with , and Overeem will become desperate , then he will shoot in or be KO'd , or probably both :yep

I didnt say dos Santos has better striking , i said he has much better hands , and he applies it in MMA with greater effect than Overeem ever has / does , which makes him a better striker for MMA , there is a difference

Werdum IMHO outpointed Overeem on the feet , yes his work was less polished and a tad sloppy , but that doesnt mean anything if your landing more shots , which to me , it appeared he was

Overeem has poor cardio , he doesnt actually move a lot , because he cant , and the pace dos Santos sets will have him in bits , it will force a mistake and Overeem will be punished

Lets wait til nearer the time and do an avatar bet :hey

Yes you may be right that Dos Santos has better hands but that won't mean much. JDS throws looping punches that leave him open to counters, Problem is he hasn't faced any strikers good enough to take advantage of this. An old Cro Cop doesn't count.

Overeem on the other has much more tools in his arsenal and will make JDS pay for those sorts of shots. As for speed, That's the only area of the fight where JDS has a real advantage and even at that Overeem has faced guys who are much, faster and better at striking(and boxing) and Overeem handled those guys so it isn't something which Overeem hasn't seen before.

One thing Overeem has to make up of his lack of speed is incredible timing and I see him being able to negate the speed of JDS with this, like he did in his K-1 fights.

As for the Werdum fight, He did win the fight on the feet but he didn't outstrike Overeem like some idiots seem to think. He wasn't land anything effective and got knocked down/flopped every time Overeem tried to open up with some combos.

The reason for that was that Overeem worried about Werdums grappling. Same reason Brock was able to land a couple of grazing punches at the start of that fight. When Overeem is worried about the grappling of an opponents he can't open up the way he wants to. However, JDS is primarily a striker and poses no such threat and I expect Overeem to light him up.

The only way I see JDS winning is either by a lucky KO punch or if Overeem tires in the later rounds. I think this one doesn't make it past the first or early second round though so that shouldn't be a problem.

I will certainly have an AV bet with you nearer the time. :good

    A very deluional post ,

If you get hit you get hit , it matters not whether or not an opponent is scared of a TD or a wrestling / jui jitsu exchange

For me Werdum landed the better shots pretty much the whole fight , and hit Overeem with a greater volume of shots pretty much the whole fight , the problem he had was that every time Overeem came near him he tried to pull guard , thats not how to win a fight , if he would of mixed things up and forced the pace on Overeem the fight would of been different , he just didnt have the faith in his own stand up when actually face to face with Overeem , dos Santos will not have that problem

Overeem is vastly vastly over rated , and how he handle's a stand up fight in K1 bears aboslutey zero resemblemance on how he handle's a stand up fight in MMA , none at all

Stand by to lose your avatar :D

lol, you can have the best boxing in the world and get your ass kicked in mma. thats all JDS has for him against Overeem is his boxing which isn't all that much better. Its better but not by far. Overeem has evaded many waves of attack by many top k-1 fighters, what makes u think he can't handle JDS waves??. Overeem has faced many people like JDS so its no big deal for him. Now JDS has never fought anyone like Overeem.

Now this bit in bold is delusional, how the hell does it not matter? So you are saying that in a stand-up only fight where Overeem doesn't have to worry doesn't have to worry about grappling that Werdum would do the same thing? Sorry mate but that's pure bull****.

    Read this- http://www.headkicklegend.com/2011/12/26/2662570/mma-striking-with-alistair-overeem

It is also delusional to think kickboxing striking doesn't matter in MMA. I can accept why people right it off a bit he didn't look great against Werdum who was his first major opponent but like I said, that is because he was afraid of getting submitted like in the first fight. There are many differences between kickboxing striking and MMA but the fact of that matter is it's not like Overeem played tennis, Kickboxing is a huuuuge part of MMA and success in K-1 against vastly superior strikers is obviously an important factor in the fight. Its stupid to suggest otherwise.

I'm leaning towards Overeem TKO. I just think he has too many tools for the mainly punching Dos Santos. Still have to consider it a bit before official predictions are made.

If JDS can mix his takedowns with his boxing then he definitely has a chance but if he just keeps the fight standing - I don't see him beating Overeem.

Not good I think. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure he couldn't even take Nelson down
