I though MAB won the rematch by 2 points though it was very close. I have watched it 4 times and always give it to MAB by 1 or 2 points. Junior never had his number like people believed

He wasnt greatly focused for the first fight and it showed. Though JJ deserves great credit. He was an awesome fighter with a great right hand

MAB did amazing to get up from that right hand. awesome shot

Mab was always a bit of a sucker for long straight shots\one two combos and a quality jab when trying to fight on the outside.

    Both horribly overrated 'boxers'.

No way MAB won that fight, I just can't see a case for him getting 7 rounds, I personally gave him 3 and 1 even, I can see a case for maybe 6rounds if you give MAB every benefit of the doubt and he still loses because of the point deduction

    1. JJ
    2. JJ (close)
    3. MAB
    4. JJ (close)
    5. JJ (clear)
    6. MAB
    7. JJ (Clear)
    8. JJ (dominant - big big round)
    9. JJ 10-8 (dominant round and MAB lost a point for low blows, MAB looking to mentally going into a shell now)
    10. JJ (another dominant round, MAB looks close to going down at the end of the round)
    11. MAB (Mab starts comingforward more, hurts JJ with bodyshots and gets the better with his affective aggression, JJ did some goodwork himself but a MAB round)
    12. 10-10 (Hard to score, MAB wins the first half, JJ the second half, great last round)

8-3-1 (minus 1 point for low blows)

Somewhat true because he doesn't have a great jab or a great straight right of his own, hence he is outgunned on the outside but being a 'sucker' for straight shots I'd disagree with that, he kept Jones connect percentage very low, he kept Morales connect percentage low, he parry's and picks off much of what is thrown

Based on what? Barrera just simply couldn't cope with the speed of Jones here and didn't have the outgame. Both are technically very good though

I have to admit I saw no controversy in the rematch whatsoever.

Barrera did alright but his powder was somewhat dry (possibly a tad wary of Juniors big right hand) and he allowed Junior to dictate the bulk of the fight imo.

Whilst I've never scored it I reckon PP's card is on the money for mine.

It's worth it, as is Jones-MkKinney and Jones-Morales and probably Jones against anyone, pure value for money fighter, the 122lb Tommy Hearns. If he boxed more instead of brawling and often punching himself out throwing 100punches a round he could have been far more successful. IMO he beats Pacquaio at 122lbs

I think Jones caused blood on MAB's brain in those fights, which is why he disappeared for a long time.

I was one of the very, very few (maybe only??) people who picked Jones over Barrera going into the first fight. I had always thought Barrera had been overhyped by HBO (mainly because his fight with McKinney was BAD's debut), whereas I had been pretty impressed by the way Jones shut down Canizales just prior to that. I figured him to do at least the same to Barrera, though he even exceeded my expectations there.

I thought Jones won the rematch closely but clearly after Barrera basically "dogged it" in the later rounds.

I agree with PP, Jones won clearly IMO. I know that sounds a bit shifty with my Junior Jones avatar and such, but I always score objectively and I can't see Barrera winning that fight. I scored it a week or so ago, and had it 116-111 Jones. Competitive early, and dominant late was enough to seal it clearly. Even Lederman and the HBO crew felt that although it was close, the fight should clearly have gone Junior's way, and I agree.
