Would Jone's height and reach and power be too much for Tapia to overcome?

Tapia is clearly greater for me, but this is at what weight? Jones can make his aggressive work do well for him as we saw with Barrera, but to be honest i think Tapia doesn't get caught by too much. Tapia for me.

i dont think jones' power will be so much of a factor. i think tapia had one of the greatest chins of all time. but if jones kept his work rate up, then he could out work tapia during his hot and cold moments that happens during his fights. jones and tapia where in many ways the total packages despite tapia's punch and jones' stamina. they had used all punches very well, they could box well and they where very smooth. ironically the suspect area of there careers was their inconsistant performances. i think its whoevers day it is on that day:deal, but if tapia choses to brawl then jones by clear decision unless jones gasses out, tapia the boxer to tapia the brawler is very signifigant difference in effectiveness.

Jones had a bad chin, but Tapia couldnt crack an egg. Jones would have beaten Tapia easily in my opinion. Look at what Jones was able to do to Barrera who was stronger and fought in a similar style.

50/50, Tapia could out tough Jones, but Jones could outbox Tapia.

I think this is a good style for Jones to win, maybe not look great doing so but he'd win

Hmm, very compelling matchup. I was considering making a thread about Jones earlier last week but forgot about it.

Obvious Jones was amazingly talented despite his fragile mandible. But I think Tapia was a lot more cunning in the ring than many give him credit for. I think his quirky style would take Jones out of his rhythm, which would allow Tapia to take it, provided he's focused on the assignment.

    Bump.
I think Tapia finds a way to outwork Junior Jones and win by decision.

    Jones wins.

Tapia would have HELL getting past his Poison's jab and right cross, and even if he does, Tapia doesn't have fight-ending power.

Jones' chief weakness is chin, and Tapia cannot take advantage of this. Jones' jab and reach advantage would also be difficult to surmount. Jones via decision.

I like this matchup. Two underrated fighters in my opinion. Who wins would depend at which weight they fought at and when. Wouldn’t be surprised to see two or three meetings either.

Shame we never got to see Naz/Jones.

Junior reminded me of Frankie Randall, to a degree. Very good fighter.

At bantam I would favor Tapia slightly
