This is true, but problem is even the "hardcore" fans if you like are feeding into it, more pages on this already than wood v lara rbr plus a 40 page thread on what tommys chances are.

I get boxings a business but its in the funny position of also being a sport and the two being at odds with each other.

I'm hardly saying that Tommy Fury goes to the top of the tree of people who should give and I mentioned that we're getting screwed by the energy companies and government, it's not like I missed that out and went straight for Tyson Fury's rich beyond what he ever deserves brother and his deluded money obsessed partner, I merely mentioned them as he's the subject matter of this thread and all people seem to be going on about is how much money he's made. I'm just sick of everything being money, money, money at the moment and of course how can you forget what Molly Mae said a few months back, it was a ridiculous. I've always said this, "take what you need, the rest is greed", nobody needs tens of millions, not when there's people with nothing. This isn't good for the sport either, people influenced by this aren't looking at it as wanting to be the next Joe Calzaghe, Carl Frampton, Josh Taylor, they're just taken in by all the glitz and glamour. When I was a kid what got me into boxing was seeing clips on the sports section of the local news every now and again of Herbie Hide. From that my uncle showed me Mike Tyson videos and my nan told me stories of Ali and showed me cuttings. Never once did I think about the money, the fame, I just thought these guys were seriously bad in a good way and it spoke to me. What kids are seeing with this is just the glamour, the glory, the money, the girls, the cars, the jewellery, that is coming way before anything else and it's wrong. There's going to be multiple shortcuts to getting "big" fights and big paydays if we're not careful that will saturate and ruin the sport, I just hope it's a fad. God knows how Badou Jack must feel right now, what a joke to be supporting two guys that couldn't knock out an area level champion. That's twice now he's become a World Champion at a new weight being the support to a pantomime show.

I'll add this, one of the main reasons we're getting these "big" fights and they're doing big numbers is because the real guys aren't fighting each other enough. Everything takes way too long to get sorted and as a result this has crept in and become a ridiculous phenomenon and is currently taking over. Crawford v Spence Jnr should have happened ages ago, Fury v Usyk should be sorted and good to go by now, at least Davis and Garcia are getting it on but we desperately need the proper guys to give us the mega fights and remind the World what this sport is about.

I think the bottom bits important. Think the truth is its becoming apparent that if these guys dont make these types of fights and continue to avoid. They might end up overshadowed by joke fights like last night.

Lets be fair boxers have had their oppertunity to keep boxing relevant. Their avoidance for too long for silly reasons has helped these fights become relevant.

Maybe we,ll start to see these kind of fights made off the back of it. Someones being paid and its probably the least deserved. Either sit back and watch that happen or sign the contracts and get yourself paid.

Fights that capture the public imagination are ones with genuine needle and animosity, or the best fighting the best.

Sadly, the actual boxers rarely dish up either. The best never fight the best when the fight should be made, it’s normally doesn’t happen or it’s a cash grab pre retirement.

Influencers have noticed this and put on fights their fan base wants to see. The standard is dreadful but the people who watch enjoy it.

If boxing functioned correctly like most other sports, there wouldn’t even be a market for this. It would be akin to a charity football match etc. Certainly wouldn’t find two top twenty tennis players playing for a title, to be followed by a few kids tv presenters having a 3 setter

I'm sure the directors and shareholders of Tommy Fury TNT Limited and sister company Fury TNT Limited, Messrs Tommy and John Fury, will make suitable donations to good causes after paying their minimal corporation and dividend taxes. If they haven't loaned all the winnings tax-free to directors before that.

I was quite surprised at Makabu. Was the champion, the bigger man but couldn't hurt a faded Badou Jack. Fair play to Badou Jack though, fought an excellent fight and finished him well. He's always been a gutsy and classy fighter.
