HWs been f/n solid ever since Briggs eeked a title away for 50 y/o Holmes and 53 y/o Holmes wasnt still pushing top contenders to the limit and pathetic soft punching cruisers like Czyz and club fighters like Bean and Hipp werent getting title shots along with shot neverweres like Cooper.
When Lewis took over it was legit...albeit the politics existed and lesser fighters picked up titles, but the world knew Lewis was the man, and he passed the torch to former and fellow titlist, the K2.
They were simply too dominant over the rest of the feild, and never got due credit.

But I agree about the LMW divison, which will only get better when Brook, Spence, Vargas and a couple other young big WWs move N.

Not ever gonna be DLH/Trinidad big for a minute, but it aint gonna be worse than the Winky era either.

CEJ hasn't outgrown, he just consumed all the useless no-hopers with padded records and moved to 168 to find some more, and also he didn't want any part of GGG, Jacobs or Saunders rematch. And you know damn well that win over shot to **** Geale doesn't mean ****, CEJ/Quinlan on ppv is still a joke.

people always talk about these 154 moving up to 160.. but then they never actually do. lol. Andrade and lara havebeen talking about it for years. They'd all get crushed brutally by GGG so it seems that's what's stopping them.

He's got proabbly the OVERALL best boxing skills of anyone from 140+.

I certainly would hope that at at 22, he would be able to melt a few off to be dominant WW or put a few on to be a solid MW.
He'd certainly KTFO Thurman, Garcia, and probably Bradley too.
Just wold keep him away from Vargas, Spence, and Pac unless the money was life changing.

As an American I tend to agree. Certainly more potential depth providing the young phenoms like Mallo, Mello, Lubin, and Andrade dont outgrow it.
But let's not forget that it wasnt long ago that Yuri Freeking Foreman was a titlist. That guy is aweful, and would be KTFO by Paulie if they fought at Yuri's best weight.

BJS, Jacobs, Quillin, Lemiuex, Lee.....plenty of money fights to be made, ntm, they could start testing the younger prospects like Quigg, Smith, Khyrtov, Murata, Derevychenko etc, and continue knocking off old vets like Geale, NDam, and Korobov en route to getting titles when GGG moves N after he gets his final strap.

Seeing them face one another would be just as......

But...without big backing from Showtime or HBO, the PBC model gonna crumble unless Uncle AL can keep getting Saturday afternoon slots on NBC.
That would really bring back the fight game.

The supporters of the current 154 division and it's so called superiority over the 160 division fighters and what the fighters at 154 will do when they do move up reminds me of the old Pride v UFC.

The so called superior Pride fighters would run rough shot over the mediocre UFC.....didn't quite work out like that did it.

They can make just as much money fighting each other than fighting pretty much any of those guys...so the question still stands.
Why bother moving up to a new division when you can probably make more money fighting guys your own size?

GGG is the only money fight up there, and Canelo obviously if he moves up

My thinking 154 is better than 160 isn't to do with the head to head match ups between 154 and 160, its simply that 154 is deeper and more competitive.

You have 160 right noiw which is basically like the HW division under Wlad.
One guy, out on his own with no challengers.

154 on the other hands has 10 guys who could all compete with each other for the #1 spot

The division you rate so highly is essentially the list of prospects for the MW division.
Soro, Mallo, Andrade, Lubin, and even WWs Spence, Brook and Vargas will ALL become great MWs in the next 3 or so yrs.

Just as Rubio did, Martinez did, Cotto appeared to be doing, Canelo might be doing, Hearns did, etc etc etc.

Don't cast aspersions like CST80 appears to be doing in his OP.

Im an American, but Im a fightfan too, so I can like fighters from everywhere in the world.

Sure, I would love to see great American MWs sooner rather than later, there just simply arent any that can seriously threaten GGG, just as there are none that would present Usyk with any problems at CW.

But.....GGGs moving N, and LHW has more than a few top names.........as an American fightfan, we can look at the divisions we do have multiple A level fighters and hope they take the mantle soon. Until then, we just gotta appreciate the Golovkins, Usyks, Kovalevs, etc just like Euros, Russians, and Brits gotta accept our Wards, Spence's, Andrades, and Charlos.

the thing is the ppv is going to be a disaster. putting a fight on itv would normally get you millions of viewers because people will watch it anyway and its free, but then making them pay 10 pound for it they will be like wdf

Do you know if GGG has definite plans to go to 168 lb?

After Jacobs and Canelo? What if the Canelo fight doesn't happen? Does he still insist on getting the WBO kept hostage by BJS before moving up? If so, I think he's in for a long wait.
