Pretty good post there - couldn't agree more. I am a Hatton fan, and dislike (though rate) Witter. He doesn't really deserve a shot, but the fact is that he is undoubtedly the second best 140lb'er and the fight must therefore take place. Witter has again piggy backed his way on the back of Hatton, fair play if you can get away with it - but to accuse him of ducking, when he moved up a weight (to which he ain't suited), across the Atlantic to tackle the best fighter in the world in his own back yard is strange. Mayweather is one of top 5 P4P all time, losing to him is no disgrace - look at his other opponents, Oscar De La Hoya, Diego Corrales et al, they all went the same way.
Agree fully with what you said, Hatton lost to Mayweather in his last fight so therefore he is a bum and never wanted to test himself, whilst Witter is fighting Demetrious Hopkins and getting 100%praise. They do need to fight tho!
Ive also met Witter and he wasnt the wanker i thought he would be! Very respectful and talkative, i spoke to him for only about ten minutes, mainly about boxing and where he thought his career was heading. A seemingly good guy, that im not disputing. On the same note i have met Hatton several times at charity dinners and events, as well as on the **** in Manchester and he was again, like Witter a good guy. Unlike alot of people on here who comment on him yet have never met the guy. I originally only started the thread to highlight the double standard about Witter and Hatton on this board by some people. They say that the Hatton fans bury their heads in the sand yet the Witter fans are some of the most obsessive "fans/stalkers" i have ever come across.
Too true buddy but even after Hatton beat Tszyu, Witter didnt give him credit. If i remeber correctly Boxing Monthly asked a selection of boxers and boxing managers, etc if it was the greatest performance by a British fighter. Witter said something along the lines of it was a good win but not a great performance. Then in Boxing news he said that he would have stopped Tszyu in 5 or 6!
Maybe so but at least we are not certified salkers, when Witter fights a fighter of the calibre of a TSZYU OR A CASTILLO come and talk to me son.
For all the talk of Hatton being the number one LWW in the world, there is obviously a good argument for him not even being the number one LWW in Britain. The only reason there is a credible debate possible, is solely down to Hatton's reluctance to fight.
Nice one son, to tell the truth these ****** Witter fans have only just started watching boxing so we can't be too hard on them. Hatton would tear Junior Shitter a new ******* in four rounds. If Tszyu was supposed to be 'washed up' and 'on the slide', what does that make DeMarcus Corley! He lost to a 21 year old 13 fight rookie last month! :deal And Vivian Harris got KOed by Maussa, the same Carlos Maussa that Hatton sent to sleep. Apart from those 'big fights' what else has Witter done? If wins against those bums make Witter the best in the 140lb division, god help us all.
Tszyu wasn't washed up but he was rusty. That said he was winning the fight until Hatton smacked him in the bollocks as hard as he could and took all the wind out of him, even after Hatton won all the rounds after that I still had Tszyu a point up when he retired. That notwithstanding it was a very good win and one I didn't expect but it must be said that Hatton was allowed to make it a much rougher fight than he should have been, I thought he fought very dirtily. Castillo however is definately shot and even if he wasn't he's still a lightweight who can't take the lbs off anymore. He shouldn't have gotten the nod in the N'Goudjo fight to begin with. Also, like the Tszyu fight it was very badly officiated in Hatton's favour (imaginary lowblows anyone?). Hatton's comp is better than Witter's there's no arguing it but that doesn't mean the fight shouldn't happen, it should, because it's the one people want to see and have done for years. Don't you think he would have made a more interesting opponent than Pederson or Rios among others? The fight was there to be made then but Hatton and Warren didn't want it. I personally feel Warren did a bit of a Don King on Witter, sidelining him to keep him out of Hatton's path, just look where Witter got after leaving him. Unfortunately Hatton attracts fans who want to play fantasy matchmaker for him "ooh he shouldn't fight Witter because he can make more money fighting so and so", who gives a **** how much he makes? Argue for good fights not what's good for the fighter. People are moaning about the topic coming up repeatedly but surely the reason for this is that the fight is in demand. The worst excuse I've heard is that people don't know who Witter is well I've got news for you; 90% of people in this country had never heard of Mayweather either before he and Hatton's press tour. I've met loads of people who tell me they think Hatton's brilliant, the best boxer in the world and are "huge fans" who've never even seen him fight and can't name a single other active fighter.
Doesnt that speak volumes about his ring generalship? By the same token this mystical Hatton work rate these days is just that mystical. When have we seen Hatton fight as rabidly as he used to when he was beating up WBU level opponents. Witter is certainly miles from that class. It does appear that he seem to lag later in the fight as he has done in the past. There are many intangibles here but the reality is Witter is a hurtful spiteful puncher and arguably THE biggest puncher with the worst style for Hatton to deal with at 150. Its a genuine 50/50 bout. Naturally as a Witter fan im leaning more towards Junior. BUT if Ricky can find the form of yesterday certainly he has a chance to end the socalled Witter "myth".
Ahhh thats it, now i realise Harris was weak at the weight even though Manny Steward was training/looking after him. So thats not probably the shitest excuse ive ever heard it must be the truth Even if everyone sends Maussa to sleep now thats his fault. Facts are facts Hatton beat Maussa in Maussa' next fight from his humiliation of Harris, whom is the best name on Witters win list When has Hatton refused to fight Urkal? If so he obviously took the easy route to the title by beating that bum Kostya Tszyu Hatton is fighting Lazcano in a tune up fight!!! One word to you Morua And finally if you are taking the **** out of me for missing a word... i meant to call you a Hatton STALKER!!!!! and while you are taking the **** about my spelling look at how you spelt Ndou, Know the sport :hi:
