Something inside of me still wants to see Junior Witter vs Ricky Hatton, when David Haye and Enzo Mac signed to fight each other. Everyone was banging on, saying that it was the biggest fight since Nigel Benn Vs Chris Eubank. I disagreed with that, because Junior Witter vs Ricky Hatton was the biggest fight in biggest boxing that could be made, and still today i think it is the biggest fight. Because it is not just a fight on paper, it is a real fight i believe. Like when you are kids at school, and you offer someone a straighter.

"The good old days of straightners"

I believe Junior Witter has always believed he could beat Ricky Hatton, on the streets in the ring, beat him anywhere. I always remember BBC sports personality of the year show, and when Junior Witter looked as if he was gonna twat Ricky Hatton. There was tension in Ricky Hattons body and dare i say it......fear.

I still want to see this fight, and that is why i want to see Junior Witter go on rampage. He has the tools and ability, so he just needs to do it..the time is now.

It will never happen, Ricky will only fight a couple more times after malignaggi and to waste one of those fights against the most boring fighter ive ever watched would be disrespectful to Hatton when he coud probably get Pacquaio or Marquez. Witter can do all the talking he wants cos he knows it wont happen and anyways that video was probably made years ago! so the heading "Not over" is very misleading. Witter would be best off fighting someone like Ajose Olesegun, although that looks like it wont happen for a while. tbh i think Witter should just retire, hes ****.

I think ANY boxing fan would have liked to have seen this fight but to be honest it will probably not happen. Never say never though. If you'd have asked 5 years ago if Calzaghe would be fighting RJJ at the square anytime soon the answer would have been the same. so you just never know.
I think deep down Ricky wished he had fought Witter. He must know that the boxing fans of the uk, his fans, wanted it. It will forever be the undoing of his career imo.
I still love seeing Hatton fight but I don't root for him as much as I did before the Zoo' fight, he should have fought Witter around then rather than fighting Maussa and co. I personally think that Hatton would have demolished Witter which makes it all the more annoying that he chose not to.

I need to see Witter win a decent fight or two and I would still be interested in seeing it simply for arguments sake.

Ricky should have fought him when he was WBC champ. It was a huge fight to be made and I think could have sold out Wembley.

Well.. if Hatton could sell out the City of Manchester stadium inside a day for the Lazcano fight, maybe he could but would have been totally off the back of his popularity. Witter isn't a household name in his own living room let alone with the general public.

Witter isn't massive but he is known. He can draw decent crowds now. However the story is what would sell it. Two British champs, both champions, years of rivalry etc It would be huge. Not just to sell out Wembledy or Manchester but also for the TVs. Thei styles clash. Hell, even the racists would have some fun with it. It appeals to everyone.

Hatton messed up by not making the fight earlier.

Who cares whos popularity sells out a stadium? :patsch

I'm honestly starting to think Hatton's team of accountants post on here.

In boxing terms it was a great fight to be made.

It never got started in reality. Everytime Ricky was asked he'd squirm and move the goalposts. One day its he's not exciting enough, next its he needs to prove himself, then he wins a world title and its he's not popuar enough and he doesn't like him because he said something mean at an awards evening.

Ricky Hatton never would have taken that fight no matter what.

The response was to the previous poster who stated that it would sell out Wembley stadium as though this proved that it was some kind of megafight ala Benn-Eubank or Lewis-Bruno. I simply responded by pointing out that Hatton sold out 55,000 within days for Lazcano, when he fights it sells, the sales would be nothing to do with the fact he was fighting Witter. Benn-Eubank no, it would have been more like Naseem Hamed-Paul Ingle for example.

He can draw decent crowds when he's fighting on Carl Froch undercards in Nottingham that's for sure! You have to bear in mind that the "rivalry" was all totally one-way, i.e. the "rivalry" that Bolton Wanderers seem to harbour towards Manchester United for example. It's all based on jealousy and the one wanting all that the other has. It would not have been a bad fight that's for sure but the only person the lack of it is going to hurt is Witter. It's not as though he's Floyd Mayweather of Kostya Tszyu is it?

In any case, it's not Hatton's responsibility to "make the fight". If Witter was that serious about it (besides piggybacking of Hatton as a publicity tool) where was the offer to the Hatton camp? And I'm not talking stupid "I'll fight for free" stunts in the paper, I'm talking official, written, here, this date, for this much documented offer. Methinks Junior boy was happy trying to drum up a bit of publicity off Hatton's back for his megabouts with Giuseppe Lauri, Lucky Sambo and Fred Kinuthia :yep :yep :yep :yep

My firm view on this is who really cares? Witter had opportunities and shot himself in the foot. The bad smell of his effort against Zab Judah lingers. I thought he had redeemed himself with the win over Harris then he messes up against Bradley. As far as I am concerned he only has himself to blame really.

if hatton looses to mallignaggi HBO will not give a **** about him. the only way he will get decent money is if he fights on sky box office and hatton vs witter is the only contest sky would put the cash up for. if you wanna see this fight the prey that mallignaggi beat hatton.
