people are telling me hatton was scared to fight witter so he took on kostya, castillo, mayweather, pac instead :patsch

Ricky wudda knocked ten bells of **** out of him and notice it was always witter calling him out because HE was the one who was below ricky. But for constant name bashing and insulting hatton, hatton did not want to reward him with his biggest payday.

If hatton wudda took it, he wudda beat him and then everyone wudda said hatton ducked somebody else instead at the same time. The wankers.

Witter was an Ingle fighter who reilied on speed and reflexes he fought Alexander when he was 35 ! hardly a fair example.

I love pressure fighters, Joe frazier is my all time favourite boxer and I'm not trying to take away from Ricky but to say look at their achievements is also unfair. Ricky had a huge fan base before he achieved anything of note which allowed him to get bigger matches etc. You know boxing and I know you understand how that works.

i still say best for best Ricky would pressure him and give him trouble but eventually one of those hooks out of nowhere is gonna catch the in-rushing Ricky and i think it would be over.

MaGee ( hard punching southpaw ) nearly got to Ricky and Witter was better than MaGee.

Im not saying all this to indulge in the now popular sport of Hatton bashing but Witter ( by virtue of having an unpopular style ) was shockingly underrated ( and paid ! ) throughout his career.

witter was virtually unknown to all but hardcore boxing fans, witter was dull, had no fan base, made **** money and brought nothing to the table. even when witter won a world title, nobody was interested in watching him. boxing is a business, and witter just had no appeal.

    Simples -

Witter was all risk and little reward , Hatton wasnt going to blow his '0' on a domestic level payday , not when the mega millions of PBF were waiting for him.

Hatton would of beat the s**t out of Witter

Why didn't it happen? Why should Hatton fight him? Instead he fought Maussa, Collazo, Castillo, Mayweather and Pacquiao. Top quality opponents

Who did Witter face? No-one who anyone cares about

Hatton was a 2 weight champion, fought the 2 best fighters of our era and took thousands with him to America, because being a British fighter you have to fight in America for them to believe that you can actually fight

No-one in America knows who Witter is. The American public wanted to see the Collazo, Castillo, Mayweather and Pacquiao fights

If he had of fought Witter it would be the same as that taunts Haye and Harrison had got from the public "Oh hes fighting Witter because he's ducking mayweather/pacquiao/collazo e.t.c"

Hatton cant fight everyone! And everyone he did fight were top quality opposition

He didnt do a Joe Calzaghe and beat 40 window cleaners before having swan songs against fighters who were over the hill, Hatton fought the best when they were at their best

Witter lost to Bradley (clearly in my eyes) and got destroyed by another American hype job

Hatton made millions, Witter barely made thousands

    Thats why

I think Hatton today is more underrated than Witter ever was. If not for his passport (playing I'm the best in the nation card), Witter had never made so many headlines, and I don't think he would've got the decison vs. Kotelnik if the fight wasn't at home. He also had a real close fight with Lynes and N'Dou, and the best fighter he legitimately beat was the post-Maussa Harris. Like I said, not a bad fighter or a terrible resume, but there's a class difference between the two, and all the trash coming out his mouth couldn't convince me otherwise.

the term bigger fish to fry comes to mind.

Witter only started calling Hatton out when Hatton became a big name.

It's true it would have been a 50/50 fight. So Hatton didn't want to risk his status as the british boxing Icon.

Its not like he ducked him for esy fights.

He was getting big money fighting Mayweather and Manny.

Also, where does Junior Witter fit in?

Kostya Tszyu - reigning World LWW Champion & top3 P4P-er
Carlos Maussa - reigning WBA LWW champ, unification
Luis Collazo - regining WBA WW champ, 2nd division for Hatton
Juan Urango - reigning IBF LWW champion, Ricky gets old title back
Jose Luis Castillo - top10 P4P-er and big megafight
--- here Witter becomes relevant, impressive KO over Harris ---
Floyd Mayweather - P4P#1 and World WW champion, huge superfight
--- here Witter again becomes irrelevant, loses to unknown Bradley ---
Juan Lazcano - tune-up after a KO loss
Paulie Malignaggi - regining IBF LWW champion (not on the line)
Manny Pacquiao - P4P#1, huge superfight

Anyone accusing Hatton of ducking Witter with that resume is clearly brain damaged.

I'd argue if Ricky wasnt a hard drinkin , roughhouse mancunian ( and white ) he wouldnt have made the headlines he did , I mean he was getting huge crowds for WBU fights. Ricky is better than many now claim though , no doubt ! He may have taken two pastings but that was two helluva good fighters and he did beat some properly good fighters.

Thing is , if it was me and i hated this dude as much as is reported and were both boxers , in the same weight class. If I hated him THAT much I think I'd say **** the payday I'm having the ******* !

However I guess we'll have to agree to disagree but I tell you this is the first enjoyable boxing based discussion I've had on here for **** knows how long and we haven't even called each otehr ****s yet. I tip my hat to you sir !
