For someone who shouts his mouth off a lot, WTF happened? He thought he was clearly winning the fight?:huh Well if he thought that, that right hand in the 6th done more damage than I thought. The thing that gets me the most is he keeps going on about how much he wants to beat Hatton, he wants to be undisputed 140 champion. Well where was the heart? not once did he open up and try to take Bradley out. Fair play to him though for not complaining about the head, that guy should've had at least a point took off him and that would've changed the result (even though the judges had it to close for my liking).
Witter's performance tonight was no different to how he always fights. When it was obvious he was getting handily beat, nothing changed.
I thought he was edging him until the KD, after which point Bradley took over the centre of the ring and forced Junior onto the back foot. There was no snap in his punches, and surely his trainer must have known he was down, because there were no bombs in the last round! I have watched it twice, and had it 114-113 first time, 115-113 the second - with one even round. (Both to Bradley)
Agree with much of that, the KD slightly changed the course of an even fight, but the scores I had a bit wider 115-112 Comfortable enough for Bradley considering he was the away fighter stepping up in class Junior looked weak and gassed, of course he's always had a tendency to appear 'lazy' but this was a bit different
hattons timothy bradleys mandatory in the WBC. He should fight bradley and get the WBC before he retires http://www.fightnews.com/rankings2.htm
Yeah a couple of steps up in class - and as the away fighter getting a decision I feel Junior has no right to complain about the judging. The guy who effectively had Witter winning 8-4 must have been on something! I think it was a combination of laziness, overlooking his opponent and planning his victory call out. To be fair, it appears that Bradley watched a lot of Witter and knew that controlled pressure with regular body attacks is the way to go. Witter was too busy posturing and switching his feet to actually realise that the fight was turning against him. Also, WTF were his corner doing - why not tell him to go hell for leather in the last two sessions?
The Ingles were actively discouraging Witter from getting busy. Pretty odd. He has lost his title without ever really attempting to pull it back from the brink. Considering he has good (very good even) power, and he did manage to land when he wound up the odd big shot, he must be gutted. But Bradley had done his homework, Junior hadn't, and that's criminal. Bradley did say he would rematch Junior so there's a ***** of light there. Junior needs to make that rematch happen, whatever it takes. If he needed to get his arse into gear before, he certainly does now.
i thought it was an absolutely shocking performance.he didn't land a clean shot all night, the scoring was a joke.thats the trouble with ingle fighters when it all unravells it does so in a big way as a result of years of bad habits being instilled into them.his footwork, balance and judgement of distance was all over the place.even late on he was so terrified of being hit,he still didn't get down on the sole of his boots to unload power shots when he needed a knockout.could you imagine if that had been hatton in front of him?i think he would have jumped over the top rope and fled the building.
(1) Relies too much on his somewhat overated power. (2) Can't change gears likes he can only fight at one pace which showed when the fight was slipping away he still threw ****all. (3) When push comes to shove his heart seems to be in question i'm not sure how much desire is there. (4) Stamina is an issue, apparently he hates running and it shows in the ring, possibly linked to point 2. He tries to pace himself and isn't capable of going a hard 12 rounds. (5) Relies on reflexes which are diminishing at 34, and he leaves his chin hanging a fair bit. (6) Spends too much time slagging off someone that has done more to bring British Boxing back to prominence in this country than anyone since Lennox retired, then consistantly puts on sloppy performances that stink out arenas and claims Hatton is ducking him. Thats why he is 34 and isn't really known outside of British boxing fans, thats why he never left his mark on America and thats why while he is struggling to sell out the Doncaster Dome Ricky Hatton is selling out Football stadiums and fighting p4p number 1's at the MGM Grand.
He should have been much busier - though Bradley had decent power, he isn't exactly Kostya Tszyu with his right hand, and if Witter had got onto his chest he would have prevailed IMO. For once I agree with Brendan Ingle's post fight comments, that Hatton would beat Bradley - because as much as Bradley performed well and deserved his victory, Witter totally blew it. If the rematch is on offer, he must take it - **** the European title, get straight back in there and win the title back.
If you had said that on Friday, you would have been accused as a nuthugger! I totally agree with every point.
I really would be interesting in seeing the scorecard for that guy that had Witter winning 115-112. That's probably highly unlikely, I accept.
