It's not uncommon for people to get title shots soon after losing their own title because the sanctioning body still has them high in the rankings. I haven't checked the other 3 sanctioning bodies but I'd imagine he's pretty high up there as well so a win or 2 will probably make him somebody's mandatory. The question is whether or not he can get over his Hatton obsession and focus on getting back to the top.
I am worried about Witter being so inactive right now. Maybe it is all over for him now at world level and he could make a bit of money domestically.
Probably still trying to come to terms with the fact that he lost, isn't a title-holder anymore, and won't be able to put as much pressure on Hatton for a fight. When that's been your driving motivation for years, it's a bit of a shock when it all goes.
I'm suprised fighters offer voluntary title defences without a rematch clause....what have they to lose by having one?
Saw Witter at the Wayne Elcock Vs Darren Mcdermott bill in Wolverhampton few months back and he can often be seen sitting ringside at most Mick Hennessy bills so hopefully we'll hear something soon. Still think he can put in some decent performances.
