Junior Witter's Next Opponent?

Those in the know realised that Enzo was a Sports Network WBO fraud, whilst I think everyone knew that stylewise Witter would give Hatton fits.

Whatever the reasons for his loss to Bradley I don't know, but I would stake every penny on Witter in a rematch.

I always felt Hatton would have too much, but better to prove it than not do it whilst claiming you would. Ricky's opponents post-Tszyu cannot really be criticised, for me it is the period following the Ben Tackie fight where he stagnated big time.

 

All that matters is that British boxing fans missed out on a very good match up between Hatton and Witter and that Hatton made his bank balance more healthy.

 

Hmmm... have to say I wouldn't. I thought Bradley just had the perfect style to take advantage of Witter's flaws, keep the pressure on him and throw that looping right hand when he pulls straight back. He really deserved more than a split decision that night. Witter needs to get his ass back in the ring and soon anyway. Right now I'd give him a chance in a rematch. 6 months to a year he'd probably be a prohibitive underdog.

 

Agreed. I think it says something about the respective careers of the two if Maussa is "garbage" and yet comprehensively sparked the guy who is supposed to be Witter's signature win. As for Urango he's still top ten ranked and heading for a title fight, nobody else has beaten him and Hatton comprehensively dismantled him despite suffering from a virus.

 

I had Bradley winning 116-112, the judge who scored it for Witter must have been pissed

I suppose Witter can be outworked - though I would have expected Bradley to beat Cherry much better than he actually did.

The fact that Junior can be outworked is why I have always reckoned Hatton would win - Witter's style gives Hatton fits, but he doesn't have enough activity within a round, too much posturing and not enough punches.

 

Hatton has a reasonably deep resume as it is. There are a lot of other fighters who would have made it look better besides Witter but then you can say that about any fighter. Hatton IMHO simply doesn't like the guy and sees no reason to make his name for him, which facing Hatton would do win or lose. Let him make his own legacy in the sport. Which he had the talent to do. But, as a result of fighting twice a year against mostly complete garbage during his prime, Junior has virtually guaranteed that he will be remembered alongside the likes of Woods/Arthur in the "good honest pro" bracket or Harrison in the "could have done better" bracket rather than alongside the Benns, Eubanks, Lewis, Hameds, Hattons and Calzaghes who will still be talked about years down the line.

 

there is no way on hell Witter deserved a shot at hatton, not any time in his career, hatton is easily above the standard of witter, ok he was defeated buy he was willing to fight the best fighters out there, witter is not one of them end of story. Whining about a fight doesnt meen anything, junior needed to back up his mouth.............. couldnt, therefore lost any possible shot at hatton, he isnt good enough end of.

Yep the PBF fight was great and one Hatton deserved a pat on the back for taking but apart from that the next best fight for British fight fans was Hatton vs Witter.

 

Define the word "deserved". It’s the same trite bollocks that Calzaghe and his nuthuggers use when Joe is in the midsts of one of his regular ducking frenzies. Whatever you would like to think the truth of the matter is that Witter was Hattons only decent domestic opposition for years and the Manc wanker shamelessly ducked him and robbed us, the people who pay his wages, of a decent matchup.
