Junior Witter's Next Opponent?

Leave things to the "real boxing fans" eh?

 

Anybody who watches boxing and pays their money is a real boxing fan, how ever ridiculous their view. I just can't stand all this blind allegiance crap that seems to surround fighters like Calzaghe and hatton, its a pity fans can't follow and appreciate boxing without acting like football supporters. Plus...I loathe and detest the word "deserved" when used in the context that the other poster did.

 

To be honest after losing to Bradley - I would have though that Junior would have really tried to push on given his age.

 

Fair comment but theres also the fact that people use Witter to put a "question mark" against Hatton accomplishments. They're no better than "football fans", they don't care whether Witter deserved a Hatton fight, just that they can use him to pull down a fighter with Hattons record. It really amazes me, Hattons not P4P or an ATG but the guy has fought top opposition at 140 for the 3 years and gets **** for it. I know Lt Welter isn't the strongest division but to be a world class boxer for 3 years and be unbeaten at the weight takes some doing.

 

I am opening myself up to ridicule here but I have followed Junior for years (local fighter) so I hope that you are not lumping me in with the ones who do use Witter as a brickbat to beat Hatton. Whatever people say about Witter he did step up to world level way before Hatton did by taking on Zab Judah in 2000, even though he did stink the place out on that occasion.

After losing to Bradley I am very surprised that Junior has decided to continue. He really struggled to make weight against him and also against Harris and is now way too old to move up and make any sort of impact at Welter. His only chance of redemption was a swift re-match with Bradley.

 

Good for you. Now its time for you to watch another sport. Only an IMBECILE would use that paltry excuse as a reason for not making the fight. Let me guess all the other WBU tin cans were deserving right? Laughable mate. Absolutely laughable. :roll: Your logic or post isnt worth spit.

 

He may well be but hasn't proven it yet. His whole resume at the moment is based off of the win over Witter. Beating Cherry means little at world level, Paulie shut him out last year.

Back to the topic, I hear Olusegun backed out on Witter in a row over money. Stupid move for him and leaves Witter in the lurch. He needs to fight someone, anyone. At what 34, 35 time is not on his side.

 

I hope Witter gets a decent opponent or we hear him in frame for another big fight, possibly an eliminator or Euro belt fight.

 

If I was him I wouldn't waste time on a Euro belt match, at his age he needs to be back in the world frame straight away. I'd be tempted to chuck silly money at Bradley for a rematch. I'm sure Kotelnik would love the chance to get his revenge as well.

 

Hopefully he can get Kotelnik, Bradley, or the winner of Torres/Holt III because Hatton will never give him a shot, the chicken.

He really needs to do it now, rather than waiting. That style does not age well.

 

How on earth a guy who has stepped into the ring with three top 10 p4p fighters can be called a chicken I don't know but there you go...

It may have been an idea for Witter to go after some of these types of fighters 6/7 years ago instead of feasting off the likes of Laatekwie Hammond, Fred Kinuthia and Lucky Sambo. That way, he may even have put together a resume which would have people talking about him 20 years from now rather than going down alongside Eamonn Magee as a footnote in the Ricky Hatton story.

 

He is a chicken, because he was never somebody that would take on a live challenger unless he had nothing to lose.

Witter will not go down as a great thats for sure, but a lot of us are going to remember how Hatton ducked him for years, to fight Vilches, Tackie and Pedersen.

 

So three top ten pound for pound fighters, numerous other titlists and top 10 contenders (Collazo, Urango, Lazcano, Tackie, Maussa) don't count then? And nothing to lose except his ring title and (prior to the Mayweather fight) his unbeaten record?

If Witter does nothing more with his career, he will be remembered most for the track meet with Judah and wasting his talent by spending his best years fighting the likes of Kinuthia and Sambo at the Ponds Forge. Sure he's got a bit of press simply by piggy backing off of Hatton's name but if he wanted it that seriously he should have made a formal offer to Hatton rather than just shooting his mouth off in the papers. Unfortunately, his career to date has been mostly mouth and precious little trousers.

 

hng on a minute, your the one judging hatton on his weight like an immature peice of ****, you child. big deal he puts the pounds on, facts are facts, he is a better fighter than witter. how this is blind alliegence i dont know. its funny seeing you trying to justify how much you think witter is good as a boxer just because you support him, its biased bs and your a joke, basically i loathe and detest your views too, its bs.

 

its funny how just because somebody doesnt agree with you that you have to insult all the time. facts are facts man, hatton is better and will always go down in history as a much better fighter with a much better legacy than witter will get a grip, get over it
