I hear this BS repeated by Hatton himself and his supporters.

As the Ring is a respected publication let's take a look at their LWW rankings from Junior Witter's perspective.

C - Ricky Hatton - Refuses to fight Witter
    1. Junior Witter
    2. Paul malignaggi - Doesn't want to fight Witter and has Hatton lined up
    3. Andreas Kotelnik - Witter has already beaten him. When asked about his future plans after the Rees fight he stated he wanted to fight Hatton and not Witter.
    4. Gavin Rees - Witter would not earn any respect for beating Rees
    5. Vivian Harris - Witter has already beaten him
    6. Souleymane M'Baye - Witter would not get much respect for beating him after his loss to Rees
    7. Lovemore N'dou - Witter has already beaten him
    8. Juan Lazcano - Lined up to fight Hatton. Witter would not earn respect if he beat him.
    9. Demetrius Hopkins - A fight was agreed and Hopkin's bottled it
    10. Ricardo Torres - I don't know how easy this fight would be to make. If Witter beat this opponent he would increase his claim for a shot at the Champion, because despite Torres #10 ranking he has the WBO belt.
So Hatton apologists, who exactly are these top fighters Junior Witter has to beat to justify a shot at the Champion?

Witter is the best on the list by a mile, but if Hatton doesn't want to fight him him he won't...because he's a cash cow and can pick and choose.

Thats the reality; doesn't make it right though.

Hatton will always be known as the guy who ducked Witter.

I think he will if he continues his unimpressive form.

    No he won't.

Should this fight never happen, the fact that it didn't will be merely incidental. Hatton will be remembered for being the guy who made boxing popular in Britain again - as opposed to 'when is Lennox fighting next?'

You guys need to stop crying about Junior Witter.
Hatton fought the #1 contender less than a year ago, and he's fighting the #2 in his next fight.

Hatton's last two fights were against boxers ranked higher than Witter. So the fact that he's #1 now is only down to Hatton beating the previous #1.

If the fight happens after Malignaggi, it happens. If he rematches Mayweather or fights Pacquaio, those are bigger fights.

**** Ricky, **** the Ring rankings. Stevie Wonder can see Junior is number 1 at 140 and deserves his shot.

It's not even worth describing why Junior deserves it.

Obviously he will be remembered for other things as well. Hatton has achieved alot in his career. He will mainly be remember for being embarressed by PBF and then avoiding Witter.

I heard Klitschko refused to fight Witter too, and Calzaghe and Roberto Duran....

If sooooooo many people dont want to fight him, it may be time for him to ask himself why. Could be that his style is grim and he's completely unmarketable!

Doesn't change the fact he's the most deserving

I agree, but the truth is no one will fight him because he's not worth anything. That is Witter's problem, nobody elses! But it is one he himself can solve on prime time UK TV on Satuday night!

That would be great in a hypothetical world... but in the real world of boxing $$ sells fights. Witter cannot make big money. As a result he cannot get big fights.

As I said previously, this is a problem which only he can solve.

I agree with Ricky, Lazcano is more marketable as is Malignaggi. What absolute bollocks.

This is a British showdown. Ricky could earn pretty on this fight while proving he is still the best at 140.

rather than shout about hatton not fighting witter...boxing fans, imo, should be insisting on hatton being stripped of the ring champion title if he doesnt fight witter...rather than say hattons ducking witter, say 'why arent the ring magazine stepping in here and state that hatton loses the ring champ tag if he doesnt fight him'..

Because he fought their #1 contender in his last fight at 140.
