Hatton said Witter needed to bring something to the table first - so Witter goes out and wins the most respected belt out there - WBC Champion. Now the fight with Hatton? No. Got to prove your worth now - Witter knocks out Vivan Harris in the most devestating manner anyone hasw ever beaten this guy. Now fight with Hatton? NO. Why? Because Hatton will just make up another excuse - excuses, excuses, excuses. Hatton fed of so many bums and blown up super featherweights during his WBU Champion days its a complete joke to say a fighter of the class of Witter has to prove himself. I will tell you the true reality of the situation. Hatton is a super popular money maker Witter is the complete opposite - Hatton dosen't like Witter dosen't fancy his chances of beating Witter and would HATE and be HUMILATED to lose to Witter and it could permantly damage Hattons popular gravy train career. It was worth taking the chance to fight Mayweather cos so much money and a shot at the number 1 but who needs to be humilated by witter. What this means is Hatton puts money first and being popular second - and being a real fighter meeting the his main rival for honour and glory firmly at the bottom of his agenda. It would be better for Ricky Hatton if Junior Witter just never was born it would give Hatton a easier life - Hatton is no peoples champions he has ducked his British rival and he should always be held in contempt for that.

You make some good points. Hatton's main excuses over the years:
    1) Witter too boring
    2) Witter not a world champion/on world level
    3) HBO not interested
    4) Witter upset me/don't want to give him a payday

He started with 1) and then moved on to 2) when Witter knocked out about 10 guys in a row. When Witter won the WBC title Hatton moved on to excuse 3) although it looks paticularly week as he fought the likes of Maussa, Collazo and Urango (and is now fighting Lazcano). 4) is usually his last resort if the other excuses don't work although when Witter recently offered to fight for free he switched back to 3).

Isn't it clear he just doesn't fancy the fight?

the article on the bbc website today repeats witters insistence that hes going to try unifying the titles next with fights against either torres or kotelnick. the latter is apparently more likely as kotelnick is keen on a rematch.

unfortunately this won't make witter any more attractive to hbo. hatton will fight malignaggi in the first of the three hbo fights followed by a handpicked opponent as a warm up to a floyd rematch. hatton will certainly not risk a floyd payday by fighting witter now. i don't like it but thats life unfortunately.

What would be great is if NDou somehow beats Malignaggi. Then Witter would hold one of the belts and hold victories over the other two champions.

Or Witter could beat Kotelnik and be thne WBC and WBA champion and Hatton could beat Malignaggi and be the IBF champion. How about a fight at Wembley for the undisputed light welterweight championship?

Of course those scenarios are out the window if Hatton simply refuses to fight Witter whatever happens.

Witter knocked Ndou down twice and ONLY JUST scraped the desicion:yep

Witter only just squeaked past Kotelnik

Witter laboured to a awfully crap win against a shitter fighter than Lazcarno in Morua:hey

    Witter barely beat Lynes

Witter beat a shot Corley who has lost several fights since:yep

Witter beat one of the worst LW champs in history as his biggest win in Harris:rofl

Look Malignaggi beat Ndou waaaaaayyyyy more convincingly than Witter, he lost valiantly against Cotto and beat a better, more difficult fighter than anyone Witter has beaten in Herman whats his name. Granted he barely scraped through. Prior to Ndou he beat Edner Cherry also a good win.

Malignaggi has every right to be number 2 in the division wether you Witter ball swingers like it or not.

Plus everyone wants to fight Hatton because he is where the £££££'s at.

    Hatton ko 10 over Witter

Stop it you will break Rickys heart:rofl That goes for the rest of the Hatton detractors,if it upsets you so much why watch him and why keep harping on about it.Just boycott his fights and stick to watchin 2nd raters like Witter if thats what makes you happy and makes you feel vindicated over your ridiculous anti Hatton rants.

But then they'd have to strip Calderon, Casamayor, Mayweather, Pavlik and Haye as well. And the title would mean something comepletely different to what it meant before.

I can play that game too but I don't think it really adds anything to the conversation.

    Hatton was KOed by Mayweather.

    Hatton barely beat Collazo

    Hatton barely beat Urango

Hatton laboured to a awfully crap win against Maussa who was beaten by Morua.

Witter can only dream of fighting someone as good as Mayweather

Witter could only dream of beating Tzsyu

Collazo would beat Witter a weight up

    Agree with the rest

Well, where do i start first:think

Losing to Mayweather is no crime. At least he got to fight probably the greatest fighter of our generation.

He fought Collazo, who is a good fighter up a division at short notice and still won.

When he fought Urango he was ILL, but like a true champ sucked it up and won COMFORTABLY on the cards. He didnt barely beat him at all.

Yes he laboured against Maussa....but wait......Maussa lost to Morua AFTER he lost to Hatton, remember Maussa BEAT Harris:rofl And Harris is Witters best win:rofl

Basically the fighters you have picked are all better fighters than Witters best win:good

Witter can only dream of fighting someone as good as Mayweather? Mayweather fights the likes of Mitchell and Bruseles. Adrian Stone got to fight someone as good (Mosley). Eastman got to fight Hopkins. to say Witter can only dream of fighting someone that good is silly.

It was two years since Floyd had stopped anyone and Hatton still managed to get KOed.

Many people felt Collazo beat him. Anyway, Hatton looked a lot worse than Witter did in any of the fights you mentioned.

Ricky was out on his feet for the last few rounds against Urango. Of course he's going to say he was ill just like Calzaghe has a habit of saying he hurt his hand when he doesn't win as impressively as he'd have liked to.

Maussa lost to Morua BEFORE he lost to Hatton.

It's easy to pick apart Witter's record. It's easy to pick apart anyone's record fight by fight. But clearly Witter deserves a "shot" at Hatton more than anyone else. It would also be Hatton's biggest fight at LWW (if Pac doesn't move up) and the biggest domestic fight for years.
