If a sober training camp kovalev shows up, it will not go more than 5 or 6 rounds. Yarde is getting hurt badly. But if the kovalev that showed up against ward in the 2nd fight shows up, drinking and smoking cigs in camp, then yarde has a chance. He might still lose though, i don't see anything special with yarde. To me he's like an inferior version of pascal.

That’s a valid point but there’s an upside - Kovalev knows absolutely nothing about Yarde’s ability because he’s never had to step out of first gear.

Despite the limited opposition I think it’s pretty safe to say Yarde hits a hell of a lot harder than Pascal. Just looked at the demolition job he did on Sjekloca.

True, though there's been the odd worrying sign in some of his bouts, give those same chances to a decent fighter, such as even shop worn Sergei kovalev and Yarde will need all those neck muscles band then some.

Still let's be positive, pull this one off in Ivan's backyard and Yarde is up there.

Sorry to disagree, a guy who hits HARD, doesnt need 6 punches to throw his oponent to the canvas. Watch the yarde's kos video that has been posted here. He has not a single clean ko hitting the head, not one, not a single one.

Neither does AJ really but he still hits hard. Besides Kovalev has a glass body, Yarde will be sucking the life out of him with jabs and left hooks to the body. Kovalev will blow his gasket trying to get rid of Yarde early and he’ll pay the price.

He has no head movement , most of the time he is off balance, he only gets away with it because he has a punchbag with legs in front of him (usually backing away from him) ...lets hope for Yardes sake that Kovalev does have an off night.
If he did manage to get a win over Kovalev ,all I can say is thank god Ward has retired as i would hate to what Ward would do to this chump!

I always hope that a fellow countryman will be victorious and I have never changed, but yarde is cringeworthy I hope he wins but I just don’t care for him at all, I don’t know if it’s fair how I judge him but I can’t help it, I can’t put my finger on why either. I don’t know who wins here but it’s definitely a massive step up for yarde, as big a step up as I can remember from a British fighter in a while

I think its because he is in the same mould as Fraudly, a manafactured fighter ,who has been fed dole guys ...he's not a genuine fighter.

It's a gamble because you don't jump from fighting journeymen straight to fighting Kovalev. Especially if you don't spar. Maybe Travis Reeves could be called a step-up, but he's 38 years old. If "gamble" is not the perfect word, let's call it high calculated risk. They obviously see something in Kovalev, and Sergey is past his prime, but it's still Kovalev.

I love a good rumour lads.

    Any links??

Okay, I just saw the alleged airplane story. Bit creepy. Strange no charges or investigation though.

Kovalev is coming back to life again now. He did a great job in the last fight so he's building up his confidence. He's not gonna let Yarde destroy it. Kovalev has skills to beat Yarde.

Yeah, it's only that, in fact. And it's not even reported that Kovalev was drunk. Usually drunk people behave like that in airplanes, I agree, but Kovalev has a very difficult personality in general. Or he might have a bad day. After all, he had to fly all across the US (from California to Florida) just for a day or two to see his family and then return back (to the training camp). Maybe he had a family quarrel with his wife, who knows.

So, again, Kovalev is not totally off the rails, out-of-shape and unfocused. It's rather on the contrary.
