Dont post much on here & am really only a boxing observer, although i do enjoy it when i can, have been lucky enough through mates ( a pretty handy boxing family) to have been able to watch Harding spar in the old days.

But what this story is about is a bit different .

Anyone who has read the book about the Waters family may have realised that ces brought the three boys to Australia, leaving an older, independant son in england, from his former wife i believe, so i'd read the book here in Sydney, but soon after left for the big travelling caper through Europe, working visa & all that carry on, so i arive in London, all my mates are broke as busted arses & have no intention of travelling anywhere, it's getting towards early April & i'm thginking i should head to turkey for Anzac day...as you do.

So this is about 12 years ago, i'm bumming around london, drinking to much, & getting involved in the "girls away from home will play caper' which was all good fun for a while until i realised if i dont travel soon i'll be entrenched in a cold pommy winter, working with no travel to talk of, so it was turkey here i come.

Before i left , i picked up a copy of TNT, the travellers bible & news source for the poor Aussies in london & proceeded to read, learning that poor old ces had died, being a boxing fan, sports fan in general i took it on board, it all seemed to fit in, having just read the book.

After a white knuckle flight on Azerbaijan airways to Istanbul, i proceeded on my big turkey adventure, so to cut a long story a bit shorter, i did the Anzac thing, & proceeded to see the sights of a wonderful country for a month, heading eventually to a fantastic place called Olympos, living in tree houses etc, i'd only just arrived with two kiwi fellas & a old pommy bloke fronted us to say hello, works out he's just a general dog body, cleans up around the camp, does odd jobs & gets payed in beer & accomadation, but he wants to talk & seems friendly enough, learning that i'm Aussie he tells me he has relatives in Aus & i may have heard about them...you can see where this is going!!.."have you ever heard of the Waters brothers??, i'm related to them"...me.."yeah i have, great fighters, i just read in the london news that old Ces died the other day"...him..."oh ****, he's my dad"..me.."""speechless"""..the kiwi boys who i was with, not knowing who the **** we were talking abvout just realised i was the ***** that had just told this bloke that his dad had died.

Some may be sceptical, but this bloke knew way to much, i witnessed him on the blower trying to reach family all over the globe, he later told me that he didnt talk to the old man much & was going to head out to Australia to see him if he could raise a quid, its doubtfull that he would have been able to, he seemed to love the cheap **** & the lifestyle, but that was my first experience of Inadvertingly telling a bloke his dad had died

    Interesting read.

Tell us more, did u ask me if he had ever boxed?

I'm still amazed how Dean and Guy are over 6 foot, yet ces was about 4 foot.
