Then it's a poor translation. I never heard them say that. What they were giving were sound instruction. Basically they were asking him to be more fundamental. Use the jab, combination punching. They were not asking him to go toe to toe. And we have to admit that Donaire can be pretty hard-headed.

A win is a win. But he needs to fight more intelligently especially if he can't physically dominate his opponet. Especially against swarmers with a good chin.

    read the news now.

cheater concepcion. he came in around 134 for the fight. as a penalty, he was penalized $13k at the same time wear a different set of gloves instead of wearing the official 8 oz gloves if he had made the weight.

what did the guy do, he insisted on wearing the 8 oz gloves to go with his weight advantage.

donaire said, bring it on. he did not want to disappoint the fans who paid good money for it. the instruction by his corner was not to brawl. good strategy against someone who came in overweight and wearing thin, brawlers gloves.

****ing cheating idiot. if there should be someone being roasted here, it should be concepcion, not donaire

The corner men were speaking in the Visayan dialect of the southern islands, I think.

Very different from the Tagalog dialect that most Filipinos speak.

I'm not sure if the translator that they got even understands Visayan.

Nonito fought a good fight. Came at Conception swinging the first round or so until he realized that it was not the best strategy. He switched to backing up and counter punching, which obviously isn't what he's best and most comfortable with looking at how awkward he seemed at times. However, he was able to switch up his game plan and still be effective. Granted it was far from the second coming of Pernell Whitaker that night but it was enough to be the better man.

They are gonna promote it as a real title. And clueless fans will actually buy it.

But if it gets him fights with Montiel, Arce, Danchinyan then it's ok. I still favor him over the 3. Styles.

He does not need a new trainer. He hasn't lost so why change anything?
Roy Jones Jr, Zab Judah and Floyd Mayweather Jr all fight with their hands down and don't jab and they won titles. Donaire shouldn't change anything, if he just improves his speed and power, he will move up and win titles.

The only thing he has to worry about when moving up is whether or not his body can move up, he's not solid yet and at the higher weights this can be a problem, but as far as his skills hes the most skilled fighter of his size right now pound for pound. He does not have to knock fighters out to beat them, he does not have to be a brawler or be fan friendly, he can beat them just like Mayweather did simply by running around the ring and pot shots.

    Donaire.
this guy starched Vic. then you say vic may go on to have a better career? if you call moving up and losing to agbeko better.
wise up. not every time youre going to get the spectacular knock out. im affraid donaire has spoiled his followers into thinking he should get the ko every time. even great heavyweights ali and foreman collected some decision victories.
sounds like youre crying because he got the win, keeping his career trajectory on an upward climb.

    "Just a thought on Donaire"

Donaire seems to be more and more of a dick.

I wonder if this is his true personality finally emerging? Maybe this is why his promoters never put any effort into promoting him? Maybe they realised what a twat he was and that he was really un-likeable?
Maybe his promoters simply didn't like him themselves?

If his recent attitude is an indication of his real personality, and I was his promoter, I would probably let him rot instead of giving a **** about him.

Maybe Donaire's problems with his promoters and with his family come down to him being a tool?

Maybe if he was more like pacman in his attitude then he wouldn't have these problems?

    Just a thought.

Donaire isn't going to be as good as his nuthuggers claim. There are frequent examples of ATG fighters dominating and stopping heavier fighters than them. If Donaire really was the business he would've put on better performance no doubt, especially as this is supposed to be his 'prime'.

Concepcion isn't bad but he's no World beater. Fighting Arce next will prove next to nothing. Munoz at super-fly or a step up to Bantam to fight Hasegawa are the only fights that are going to prove he's the 'real deal'.

At the moment he's Jorge Linares with better opposition and one good win; got the skills, but who has he shown them against?

The win over Vic was good, but Darchinyan going on to be a top 10 P4P guy does not mean that Donaire is automatically in the top 10 or indeed better. Vic done more for his resume and standing by losing to Agbeko than Nonito has done since he beat Vic.

Nuthuggers will go crazy, I'm don't care it's called observation and being objective. I like Nonito, he just gets far too overrated on here and it's starting to grate :good

A few points; don't judge a fight on just the highlights.

Another one; if he's getting unfairly slated now that's okay as he has been unfairly overhyped over the past year or so.
