Agreed, you can still respect their ability and sacrifice whilst not always approving of their attitude and career/fight choices.

You are a bit hard...I agree totally with "What is shameful is the way you began and presented this "thread"."

But i'm not in shame of giving my reply.

    Peace

i don't respect them because they do something dangerous. I respect them because i can recognize that put in their shoes, if given the choice between pleasing the hardcore boxing fans at the expense of my bank account or making more money at the expense of the hardcore boxing fans, i would do the latter 95% of the time. Espcially at a young age, where if you **** up it can cost you millions of dollars. (Cintron, Vivian Harris, etc). Boxing fans are unforgiving and there is no system that guarantees a fighter who suffers a big defeat can get back into contention, even if he's good enough to do it.

    Right...so...your point is?

They do what they think is best for them. I know it's not what I would like them to do, so I criticise them. After all, if it were up to 95% of boxers, they would only fight risk free fights that make them look good for extremely high purses. But just because it's good for them doesn't mean I have to aprove or not criticise them. I do, and I have a right to. Not least, since I have a stake in the kind of fights they fight, it would be irrational of me not to try and encourage them to fight the fights I want to see (through praise) and not to discourage them to fight meaningless fights (through criticism). Whatever minute influence I have as a fan, I choose to use in my best interest as a fan and I do so rationally. It's as simple as that.

I cant beleive that I am posting on this thread.

This is a sport based on drama and it is ok for people to love or hate a fighter of their choosing. That is what makes the forum fun. When we loose sight of objectivity then you are a "fangirl", "nuthugger", "cockrider" what have you.

I can call a spade a spade so I am cool and comfortable with pulling for my favorite fighters and pulling their card when it needs to be pulled.

I have been called a Mayweather fan, a guy who I dislike!

I have taken **** from other Puerto Rican posters for calling Margarito a beast and giving him his much deserved props!

I have been called a Hopkins fangirl, I really do not like this guy either!!!

The point is that the majority of all posters do not nuthug and hate but some do, so what they are fun to argue with and prove wrong anyway, so let them be.

The most sensitive people to this thread are the one who want to spend their entire weeks going, "So this delusional Vlad nuthugger said last week..." and then proceed to explain how Judah, Tyson and other champions achieved nothing.

In tennsis, at least there is a BASIC level of respect for top players and no one gets disowned for losing. Only boxing does this. Even in MMA, you can still lose a fight and be a great fighter.

Boxing fans are anything but sometimes. Not all of them. But enough of them to make me think they love to hate.
