Just after khan got ko'd by prescott, where did you see him going?

I knew he'd get to where he is, but I didn't imagine him doing it in such a short space of time. Within 10 months of getting sparked out, he beats Kotelnik for a world-title. And we've now realized how good Kotelnik really is.

 

"You'll never reach world level with a chin like that".



Or something along those lines.

that was absolutely shocking, getting wrecked and put out in round one..OUCH..
then what happens..turns that **** around and is now some big fav in the division!

To be honest, i was caught in the attention of online chat, Khan was done etc..oh and the media gave him low cahnces of making it back..not nice.

Amir went back to the gym and hung out with the locals the day after..

 

ok, if i'm honest if you told me post prescott that in 2 years khan would stand and trade with the biggest puncher at 140 and make it through 12 rounds without going down i'd laugh my ass off i didnt think he'd make it through a fight with berrara or kotelnik nevermind a heavy handed marcos maidana

 

i thought he was finished, i mean back then i was thinking he should go back to the amateurs and wait for the nxt olympics and try and get a gold i'm glad he proved me wrong and i hope he goes on to unifying the devision and maybe beating some names at 147,

 

I knew he would come back, he was extremely young and I also knew fighters can still be successful with not so great chins

 

Anyone claiming they predicted his sudden rise would be talking bull****. I think we all pretty much thought he was either done, or would have a long and protected road back to world titles. I'd say he's been cleverly matched rather than protected, and they took the gamble against Maidana pretty quickly all things considered.

 

I thought they'd keep feeding him bums for a long time, build his reputation back up, win a bull**** world title, because I thought any legit champion would knock him out, and eventually Warren would cash out.

The only part which came true, was that his reputation was built back up.

I knew it wouldn't effect things for one simple reason. He's a well known name.

It's similar to Audley Harrison really, loses to Michael Sprott or whomever and 'they' start saying "oh its definately career over for Audley now". You can think back for yourself how many times you've heard commentators say that about him and then only last year he's fighting David Haye. The reason is because win or lose, the public still know of him, he can still sell tickets on the basis of that

Similarly (although obviously quite different), Khan is a big name in the UK due to his olympic exposure.. he was in the safe hands of Frank. There was absolutely no way this was finishing things, because money was there to be made still

 

I had faith in him and had the feeling his chin would improve by moving up in weight but never would have expected him to be fighting and winning against Maidana so soon

 

But the difference is, Khan not only kept his name in the picture, but he went on to become a world-class fighter too. Something which Audley, despite being in an extremely dire division, never came within a million miles of doing.

When people said "It's over now" for Khan, they were mainly referring to his aspirations of becoming a major force on the world scene. They weren't thinking his career as a boxer was over, because as you say, a high-profiled name like that doesn't disappear so easily.
