Can we please stop with the nonsense that the amateur and pro games are so different? It's the same sport, a skilled amateur is a skilled pro.
Leading up to this fight there was so much rubbish talked, people saying things like "Those amateur fights mean nothing, he's in the pro game now and he's only had 8 fights".
Where'd he get that speed, skill and power from, 8 pro fights? He's a two time Olympic gold medallist ffs, the lack of respect shown to amateur boxers is incredible.
Look at Pernell Whitaker, he said that Olympic gold was the pinnacle, everything else was just the cherry on top.
The pro game is weaker if anything, you get guys like Ramos as champ without really going through any of the top guys. In the amateurs the best fight the best.
Amateur boxing is the sport, the pro game is a business. The pro game is hype and money. In amateur boxing to win anything you need to beat the best from around the world. No sitting in your backyard fighting stiffs for title defences.

    They're very different.

Rigondeaux pretty much parroted that in his post-fight interview. He barely seemed to even care he'd won the WBA title.

Case and point = Whitaker, De La Hoya, Jones jr., Rigondeaux etc.

You have no case or point. It's very unusual for a pro to have skills unless they had a good amateur career.

There's exceptions each way, Boxing has a long history.

Amatuer Boxing is watered down these days, it's score a shot and move away, guys like Jones and Sugar Ray Leonard thrived off of throwing combinations, you rarely see that in todays amatuer game.

You obviously haven't watched amateur boxing in years. Look up the worlds best, Vasyl Lomachenko. Combinations, body work etc.
He's a complete fighter, the best in the world - amateur or pro.
