Im 59 years young and starting boxing at a local boxing in my town. I have always kept myself in pretty decent shape but these workouts are amazing. The best part besides the conditioning is you learn something everyday and you learn to push yourself way beyond your limits. Now like I said I'm 59 and I do have issues with knees and back and so on. I box three days a week an hour each day. On my days off what can I do that will help me with my boxing without doing any boxing. Stuff like for conditioning and strength.
    Thanks

Shadow boxing. All day long. You can work resistance movement in too, but I swear shadow boxing keeps me in shape when my hands and shoulders won't let me box properly.

Tough guy behind a computer. Im sure at 59 I wouldn't have any problem kicking your ass.
I do what I do to keep in shape. But kicking ass was never a problem.

  10. Good on you for getting out and having a go at your age. But don't over do it. Rest is important as the work is. If you have joint issues I'd suggest krill oil tablets. Best thing ever.

Work on CORE strengthening, will help support the joints more.

Loads of different muscles but i was thinking more around the middle section of the body, if you are strong around there there's less stress on back and possibly other joints.

The hardest working guy (apart from the Pros) in my gym is 52, he puts most of the young lads to shame.

Dont let nobody tell you that you are too old

My dad is 58, done kickboxing and other martial arts for years, he has bad back problems too. He spars hard, but never has offical bouts and these days he teaches it a lot too

Hes in great shape, and wont be stopping anytime soon. Just keep at it, streching will be the THE MOST important thing for you. Like someone else said, Krill oil will be good just keep the omega 3's high for joints and heart
