I was thoroughly impressed with Haye after having seen the fight. The 1-2 that put Ruiz down was exquisite, and instead of diving in for a KO, he fought methodically and caught Ruiz with clean bombs throughout the fight. He used a fantastic jab, speed, power and didn't waste much at all.

Criticisms I think would start with his guard and lack of head movement. He kept his hands low, which I think he does to wind his shots up more, but coupled with his lack of head movement (at least in the 1st half of the fight), I can't help but feel Wlad may find the target quite frequently with his jab.

I'm a lot more convinced with Haye overall though after this fight, he demonstrated that he has every tool necessary to compete within the HW division, and he certainly bring some very much needed entertainment to the division.

In conclusion, I'll give what some of you may deem to be quite a bold statement:

David Haye is THE ONLY individual capable of defeating a Klitschko.

Every other contender has come to fight them, without so much as being in adequate shape. Sorry if this sounds blunt but they're all just plain fat, and it seems a shame for us as boxing enthusiasts to be subjected to a division whereby the contenders cannot be arsed to so much as whip themselves into shape in order to put up a fight against either of the two dominant brothers.

Haye needs another fight or so to establish some firm feet within the division and then lets see him take on a Klit. It's about bloody time we saw a legitimate fight involving either of them, and I for one am certainly looking forward to it.

    Roll on Hayemaker...

You mean he's quick compared to 38-year old John Ruiz. Yes, I agree. :)

The good thing about this fight and Haye is that he only had 90 rounds going into this fight and 78 before Valuev. Fighting 12 and then 9 against Valuev and Ruiz will help his experience. He needs much more experience before he fights the Klitchkos.

I noticed Haye has a decent jab, he doesn't use it enough to set up his bombs, but whenever he threw it he landed it. Nice to see he was popping it and softening up Ruiz and didn't just try to blast him out. I dunno, I don't think you can criticize the guy too much for his performance. He got tagged but mostly due to him being just a little over eager at times and losing concentration, which he cant afford to do against Wlad or Vitali. But it's coming together.

More head movement, use the jab a little more, a little more precision and using straighter punches (the 1-2 he threw in the first round that got the KD was awesome. He has a tendency to swing for the fences a bit, but he could tighten that up a little more. The kid can potentially do big things in this division.
