Just back in Blighty after Froch v Taylor

First of all I'd like to thank all the Americans, both in New York and Connecticut who made me feel so welcome, and props to the American crowd who took the defeat of their man in a very sportsmanlike manner and were shaking hands and slapping the backs of the Froch fans who made the trip. A minority of Brits could learn a thing or two from these people.

Secondly, and I'm not going to come on here and crow about the win,but those of you who picked taylor had seen little if any of Froch, whereas we Brits have ssen taylor on UK tv many many times, even before he won the title. If you knew anything about boxing and the two fighters involved that Froch would KO Taylor(albeit he left it a bit late:nut) Remember Taylor opted not to fight Carl for the title last year and fought Lacy instead, and then refused to travel to the UK. I was so confident of the win that I staked a day's wages on Froch which is something I'd never normally do.As I said on these boards many many times, there was no way Taylor was going to win this fight.

Credit is also due to Taylor, who fought a better fight than expected and always conducts himself with respect and dignity. As a person, rather than a fighter, he's always been one of my favourite blokes in the sport.

As an aside, internet warrior Too Pretty failed to back up his (empty) threat of coming to Foxwoods to 'say hello'. I hope he doesn't use the excuse that he couldn't find me as there were less than 50 Froch supporters there and we were all pretty noisy and easy to spot!! He bottled it!!!:hey

Massive credit is due to Froch for even making his first defence against a marquee American fighter in America.He could have easily made an easy defence at home but he wanted to prove a point which he emphatically did.The only time I can recall a Brit doing this before was Frank Bruno and that was because he was forced to(fight Tyson)

Bute would get thrashed by Froch and I suspect he will not be interested in the fight. Kessler and Pavilk would be much tougher and both would probably be absolute wars.

Whilst in New York I blagged my way in to both the Froch/Taylor and Klit/Haye press conferences and a 'big up' to Pablo from The Bronx if you are reading this mate:thumbsup

As I said earlier, you simply have to take the time to read through my previous posts ever since this fight was made.

As an aside Froch has now entered the two biggest fights on his career with injuries which would have forced many fighters to pull out,ie damaged rib v Pascal and a serious eye infection v Taylor which caused him to lose two nights sleep the week of the fight due to the intense pain

 

True, but I had a fantastic time in the six days I was there BEFORE the fight. Can't fault the Yanks for their hospitality and general helpfulness
