We got a good clean fight last night where one man was clearly better on the night than the other. Everyone wants to have some dumb angle,be it prime bhop this or Ward would or wouldn't . Can we not just appreciate the display of boxing for a minute and maybe breakdown the fight a little technique,game plan and so on. I didn't think soatsch
This is ESB or Boxingoforum24 now I guess, you'll have to wade through a lot of haters, nuthuggers, race baiters and trolls to find any serious boxing discussion. Last night saw a passing of the torch and a conclusive one. No controversy, no doubt as to who was superior. As a spectacle it was too one sided but it changed the landscape of boxing. Kovalev is the real deal. The man at 175lbs, beat a proven world class champion and scared the other one away. The thing that surprised me was Kovalev's control of distance. He's used it in previous fights to cut off the ring and apply almost constant pressure on his opponents but we haven't seen him use it off the back foot to out box an opponent and definitely not against anyone as good as BHop. Kovalev may not have the head or upper body movement of Hopkins his defence relies heavily on movement and controlling the distance like Wlad but without the clinching. He never fell into the trap of following Hopkins or being drawn in when Hopkins was on the ropes. When he threw right hand leads he stepped laterally to the side to avoid being countered. He showed a lot of skill that he had only hinted at previously in flashes.
Completely agree. Its got to the point where i dont like coming on here after big fights. All it is is complaining and criticizing. Enjoy the f***ing fights!!
