To this day, Lawrence Cley-Bey vs. Cliff Etienne is one of my favorite HW fights. Only good fight on the Tua - Lewis card. Excellent fights can come out of nowhere.
True, you have a valid point, but no one wants to see someone recieve repeated concussive blows to the head because they never developed a satisfactory defense toward great fighters. Rocky is good for the movies but could get people get seriously hurt in real life. I understand how some people might enjoy the heart that they bring to the sport. But I like knowing the people I'm watching are fully protected by their talent and skill from any mishaps and even that (as in the case of Meldrick Taylor) sometimes is not enough. Sure, you can never be to sure as to all of this. In boxing that element of risk comes with the game. As a supporter of the sport I try and do my part by standing behind high skilled fighters and hoping mismatches don't happen too often.
i despise mismatches. but the nature of the sport is violent, and i do not enjoy watching one sided beatings imo it is bad for the sport. but two evenly matched fighters rwgardless of skill level is what the sport should be about.
Great post. There's nothing wrong with enjoying two guys who aren't great fighters putting on a great fight.
Great post. SOme of the most entertaining fights are at a much lower level. And these guys aren't bums, they're still great fighters.
Too right. Some of teh best fights I've seen have been between two well matched domestic fighters who would never be anything much on a bigger stage. Its about the matching and the guys hearts.
It just seems everyone is sitting out waiting to dump on every guy out there. There just seems to be a lot of guy whose whole enjoyment of the sport of boxing is waiting to watch guys lose.
great post..perhaps the reason is everyones a critic nowadays. People have high standards. Zelenoff and hartley weren't world class..but they sure entertained a lot of people
This is because many posters on this site have their own agenda. They will tear down certain fighters in order to spread their biased propaganda.
Great post theres alot of fighters that i enjoy watching who at this point in time are not world class john duddy imediately springs to mind.
I totally agree with this thread. It's not just the below world class level that suffer abuse on ESB, people just seem to have so much rage on here that they need to vent some of the best fighters in the world too - it's quite lame! Haye is one that get's a lot of stick recently, it's crazy to see how so called fans of boxing can show so much hatred towards someone who has achieved so much in 22 fights and wants to fight the best at HW. Sometimes I think half the people on here are not even fans of boxing, they are just mentally deranged gimps who have nothing better to do than come on here and disrupt the real fans. P.S I think a swear filter should be employed to change the excessive use of 'bum' to: I suck tramps cocks for fun. Cley-Bey had a chin made of granite in that one!
I agree, but even those you ARE world class get terrible abuse on here.Just look at Mayweather,Pacman and Calzaghe.top three fighters in the world and probably along with Wlad the most hated on these boards
Part of the reason why i miss USA's Tuesday Night Fight's so much. They would match bum vs bum sometimes but the fights were entertaining.
