Floyd would have embarrassed Margarito even worse (if perhaps minus the stoppage). It would have been a miniature Calzaghe-Lacy (or a macrocosm of Mijares-Arce). Except Floyd's even better than Joe or Cristian.

Reasons and excuses used to duck Margarito


1. Ill fight Margarito any time anywhere if Bob shows me the money.

Floyd is just as strong as Cotto.
Floyd is a much better clincher than Cotto.
Floyd is twice as fast as Cotto.
Floyd has twice as good counterpunching as Cotto
Floyd has better footwork than Cotto.

The only advantage Cotto has over Floyd is a slight advantage in punching power. Slight advantage. And that advantage does nothing for Cotto in terms of how they would fare comparitively against Margo.

Whoever picks Margarito over Mayweather is an idiot. Margarito has absolutely no skill AT ALL and his one-dimensional and predicted aggression isn't anything new for Mayweather to handle. A shot to death Mosley didn't only expose Margarito by knocking him out he also won every single round and made Margarito look like the zero skill hypejob that he is and that's a fighter Margarito was a HUGE favorite going in against for logical reasons.
