Just been sparring Patrick Mendy

Where does it say on his twitter that he's not fighting Mendy? :think

I know a lad good amateur - use to train over the boxing shed by me.

He was a decent amateur - ABA and that - decided to turn pro.

Started sparring Floyd Havard who use to train over the gym too now and again.

Floyd bashed him around like a rag doll - and I dont think he even went pro then.

Sparring a good proper pro - can be a bit of a reality check it seems - and a painful one at that.

It wasn't anything serious, , he wasn't really trying. He was just blocking my shots not throwing anything back and I could hardly land a glove on him.

I have seen threads in the past on this forum where people think they could seriously hang with a pro in the ring. Anyone who thinks that, get that out of your mind quickly because you wouldn't stand a chance.

Nah mate, it was only about 5 and half years ago, his son used to go to gym I went to (his son Nathan Owens is turning pro soon). Dave Owens used to get in the ring and have a little steady spar with the lads and he knew all the tricks in the book of how to block shots n feint etc.

Thats why I don't get it when people are giving out advice on this forum to boxers when if they got in the ring they wouldn't have a clue what had hit em' literally!!

He has got very good Boxing ability, I don't think he has done much as an amateur as he has been fighting in the semi-pro company the English Boxing Federation. I still speak to his dad if I see him out n about and I spoke to a lad in the nightclub recently who knows us both and he said Nathan is doing really well.

Mendy will win with ease. Shame though, thought he was gonna try and have a run at 160?

I've seen mendy fight twice and I've talked to him after lovely guy way to small jaffa will get the job done good fight though
