No I don't blame him in a way but Im not going to help pay for it, I have no interest in these type of fights, I turned the Cleverly v Karpency fight off after 3 rounds.
I was actually subscribed to box nation and managed to kinda accidently cancel after 2 months.. They didn't kick up a fuss..So I think if you really wanted to cancel before the 6 months was up then you could..
I've said it before.. but The freeviews **** me off.. I subscribe and everything I watch is ****ing free. The boxing hour is free to watch.. If there been a big fight on in America i'll record it, rather than staying up.. but boxnation show it for free the next day anyway.. I wonder why I bother subscribing. I'm happy to watch repeats a few hours later..
the competition from box nation has upped skys interest again which is something to be grateful for - better domestic cards and showing live fights from over seas which they had seemed to have lost interest boxnation would be a good value with a decent british card every week and foreign stuff every two weeks or so - thats even less than was promised but there has been nothing on for what seems like weeks now!!! they could do so much more - free view weigh ins, preview shows to get some hype goin, analysis shows the odd documentry but all u get is bunce once a week!!! and people say bunces hour is worth the money - no way that shows a disgrace to broadcasting!!!
Yea weigh ins would be good. Surely it would cost **** all to show them.. Not fights on last weekend.. but to be fair Groves pulled out.. So there was supposed to be. but it's far from 2 a week.. If i remember rightly it looks a bit bleak in terms of cards for the next few weeks on boxnation Another competitive ****** special on this week with Mcphilbin and Macrinelli...
the lack of hype for a fight is the undoing of the channel! seriously, they have had 5 months now to get it right and still messing up, people have been crying out for weigh ins, it wouldnt cost that much to put right, but they are arrogant enough to think that they can get away with it. if i was behind the channel i would throw a weekly wage at the ifilm london guy and let him go up and down the country visiting gyms, giving fighters more airtime, more fresh tv shows and watch the dedicated boxing channell shine. more small hall shows would be a wise idea too.
I tried Mand but its just not worth it mate, I should have known better than to trust Frank, Im not into boxing to see mis-matches all the time and fund a certain promoters past mistakes.
Think that's the saving grace with Sky compared to Boxnation. You got football as well as other channel's. Boxnation has to rely on one sport and the quality is hard to deliver in this day and age but the fact Frank's putting on fights like this when there is a lot better oppo to pick from isn't right. I'd do the same myself..
Coincidentally, I was thinking this the other day. I've enjoyed the International fights, but I could have watched them all for free the next day (when I'd watch them anyway) Likewise with Buncey's boxing hour. Essentially, that means I'm only paying for the domestic fights that I'd watch live. So far, this calendar year, the fights I've watched that immediately spring to mind: Burns Vs Moses card Groves Vs Smith card McPhilbin Vs Williams When I signed up, I thought it'd be good to watch Cleverly & Mitchell but I've had no interest in their recent fights. I like watching Bellew, and I will...on Sky. DeGale hasn't boxed since October. Groves world title shot isn't guaranteed for BoxNation (to be fair, that would be difficult as the date/location isn't confirmed). Steve O'Meara is good to watch, but I'll go to his fights. Chisora is currently not licensed (and the Vitali fight was free, due to the payment issue). That seems to leave me paying me paying £10 per month to watch Burns. I like watching Burns, but he can't carry a whole channel.
Doesn't work like that for me. I watch boxing in the house, football down the pub and can take or leave most other sports. Frank did the same at Sky as he's doing now and people still coughed up £50+ a month but now a tenners too much for the same type of boxing?? And no, I don't want to hear "its the principle" when people were quite happy giving money to Frank via Rupert Murdoch...;-)
Glad i'm not the only one.. I don't see how they are going to get more people subscribing when they make it all free to watch.. Sky don't repeat their pay per views till 5 days later.. and then it's only to sports customers..
Yeah Sky have people over a barrel a bit with the other sports they show, although there has been an improvement of late, I understand boxing isn't a easy sport to run and its unpredictable. I can except that, Its Frank and his unwillingness to change. when he first spoke about launching the channel, It was a channel for the fans, I knew it was mostly bull****, but if your going to say something like that at least pretend your actually listen to them.
