I remain to be convinced that Eddie Hearn is going to be the saviour of British boxing but at the very least its got to be good that someone has challenged Frank and there is another option for fighters/ TV. Hopefully everyone will have to raise their game a little with the increased competition. The old Sky/ W@arren situation was far too much like a monopoly to be healthy.
I agree there and if things pick up with Boxnation and I feel that Im a bit more than just an afterthought there's always the chance I will subscribe again providing I can afford it.
The £1m p/a consultancy fee was healthy though :hey My Sky was supposed to go off on the 17th, still in full swing :happy
It's. £10 a month for ****s sake and your getting some decent overseas fights, never heard so many so called boxing fans moaning and bleating about a channelatsch Also the arrival of box nation has seemed to get sky to step up a bit. If box nation fails you will get the same people moaning why arnt sky picking up all the overseas fightsatsch
Think Boxnation have ever tried to link up with the WBC and get their streams put on the TV to fill up the schedule a bit? Fragomeni v Branco was a genuinely brilliant bout last weekend.
It could be £10 £20 or £5 If Im not happy with it? Im not happy with it and if that makes me not a boxing fan in your eyes? I couldn't give a toss. I as a fan do not like Frank W and the way he does business and at the moment Im not willing to help fund him. :good
Boxnation was screwed from the start in my view. Sky when VVarren was with them paid the broadcasting costs for the fights and bigged it up on the Sky Sports News the big fights. Now VVarren and Boxnation are left with the costs of broadcasting fights. No wonder that there has been some cards pulled so far. Its going down faster than the Titanic. IF a Golf channel didnt kick off in the UK then a boxing channel has **** all chance of surviving. Also its interesting to see some of VVarens fighters when there contracts are up will they stay or move back to a Sky promotor. Look at Bellew I know he posts on here from time to time if he was offered a deal with a Sky promotor he would be mad not to take it off them. DeGale fighting outside the UK and if you beleive some reports he wants out of ******. Look at the bill that Matchroom put on last weekend and compare it to any of VVarrens on Boxnation it shows what staying with Sky can do for a promotor Matchroom will boom while VVarren will find it hard to compete with his rivals for boxers longterm. He once was the best British promotor now his rivals are closing the gap all the time.
I'm not paying for Sky Sports and then another few quid for another channel. There are always other ways of watching it anyway.
You could say that about Sky/ HBO, Showtime. IMHO people have got so used to Sky being their only TV bill (bar the license fee) that any "extra" channels like BN, Premier, PrimeTime etc that show what Sky showed are viewed as the bad guys for taking away Skys (apparently) God given content. Although Skys effective monopoly over the last decade or so may make it look like thats the case, its not.
You've cancelled box nation that's your choice:good I'm sure your hero frank w. Will be having a sleepless night over your cancellation for a measly tenner
The football, darts, rugby and boxing coverage on Sky means that I don't mind paying for it but that's as far as I'll go for paying for TV. I'd miss Sky a lot more than I'd miss Boxnation and like I said, for fights I really want to see I'll always find some way of watching it.
