Just coz you struggle against some fighters, doesn't make you exposed! (reg Brook)

Started this thread in the General Forum. Then i remembered there are 90% idiots in there and would have been better served posting this in here.

Kell Brook found is very difficult in there tonight. The dude was swarming the **** out of him, which can be a very effective tactic against someone with Brook's style. It happens though. Even the best fighters have close calls early in their career against guys they should have no problem with. Calzaghes third defence against Reid was a SD. Andre Ward was bang in trouble in some of his early fights. Other highly respected world champions suffered early losses in their careers. It seems that whenever someone is in a fight that isn't a KO1 or a 120-108 UD, they are ''exposed'' or a ''hypejob''. That is just not realistic.

Yes Sky definitely overhyped him far too early. But thats how it goes. Kell is still learning. He has a lot to work on. But he showed heart and a granite chin in there. First time he was really faced with adversity. And he was caught off guard and maybe a little lucky to get away with it. But he can still improve and become a credible world champion. Just coz someone isn't a P4P contender or a floyd mayweather, it doesn't mean they are shite.

He isn't ready for a world title yet imo. But as long as he isn't now wrapped in cotton wool and protected by Hearn, he will continue to build and learn and become a threat at world level soon. Lay off the kid

I cant stand Brook, he just irritates the hell out of me. However I have to agree with your post. Brook came through a tough test & showed big heart, he deserves credit instead of all the 'exposed' bollocks. His usual weaknesses were there i.e. stamina issues, but he did show that he can hang in there when hes taking big shots, just like Khan.

Eddie Hearn though was so disrespectful afterwards, going on about Kell not being 110% whatever the hell that is in front of his opponent:roll: Its the excuse making that pisses the fans off. Like if Kell didnt have a cheeseburger one week instead of his usual lettuce sandwich then he would have won inside 3 rounds:-(

The problem with Brook, for my opinion for what it's worth:

    Lack of power.

Seriously, the style he fights, and i find khan to have a simmilar problem, they don't have the power to get the job done. Now if the opponent they are facing is fragile, they can get them out of there early doors, but if they can't, it's dogfight time, and when the speed advantage beggins to fade in the later rounds, they look helpless in there.

Khan had it with Maidana and Petersen, if he had power, BOTH of them would have been out of it early doors, because he doesn't they hang in and start putting it on him

same with Brook tonight, landed enough leather that Jones should have been gone, he was not, his heart grew and he started putting it on Brook.

Since they can't find the power they need to do something to stop people from getting at them later in fights, if that's inside game, to tie guys up, make it messy, lean on them and tire them out while catching a breather themselves, or some other string they need to add, they have to find it.

I can see Khan potentially having the same problem AGAIN next week, if Garcia has decent whiskers I am expecting to see Khan on his unicycle from round 7 onwards.

and even if they win, fighting like that doesnt endere them to anyone

I think Kell hit Jones with combinations which would have had most Welterweights out of the there. The guy has a freak chin.

Even Mayweather with his skills and speed isn't good enough to keep somebody away from him for 12 rounds.

Difference is, Mayweather can beat people up on the inside as well so it's not a problem when somebody does get close to him.

Brook and Khan can only fight at one distance and they're lost once somebody closes the gap on them.

I think Brook needs to try and go the WBA route and take on Malinaggi rather than the winner of Alexander v Bailey (With will probablu be Alexander)

I don't think Brook was exposed at all? Was a tough fight he stepped up a level and when he got brought into the trenches against Jones he fought his way out. I still think he posses the abilities to become world champion especially against the likes of either Rendall Bailey or Devon Alexander.

Brook is probably the most skilled fighter in the division outside of May and Pac, he just needs experience and the top level, work on his stamina and learn how to fight to a gameplan.

    Pros - Brook showed heart.

Cons - his game is based around foot movement and head movement so when someone fights him at a range where he needs to use his guard/arms more he struggles. He looks good at long range but cannot fight at close range.

What a mong, you do realise Jones was 18 and 19 when he got stopped, still a child..Jones has a very solid chin, Orlando Salido, stopped 5 times whilst he was a teenager, yet hasn't been stopped since and has fought bigger punchers.
