never been knocked out but ive been hit pretty hard. ive felt the shock in my legs from getting hit so hard but never been knocked out. i hear its a flash of white and then youre awake ive been unconcious due to other things, you just dont know where you are thats all. nothing to be scared of
I'm just afraid my coach will make me check in to the hospital. I can't afford those crazy ASS USA BOXING CO-PAYS!
I've been knocked so hard on my forehead I was on my ass before I knew it and bleeding profusely from a gash on the forehead which needed 7 stitches. At no point was I unconscious but I remember feeling very very sleepy. I remember the docs and nurses at the hospital being really concerned about keeping me awake, the doc kept talking to me keep me conscious.
2 x both times I didn't know what happened until I was told. and ANYTIME you black out you need to get a CT scan
This is totally irrelevant to boxing, but a couple years back I was on a school trip and I was running around some weird play area like a twat. Anyway I hit my head on on a plank of wood whilst running, I'm pretty sure I was out for a while, all I remember is seeing the bar of wood, and then walking away aided by a classmate. Don't remember the impact or how long I was on the floor for, or even getting back up. I was concussed, had a lump the size of an egg on my forehead and felt pretty ****ing weird for the next few days. Just felt slow, tired, not alert, sometimes I'd be laying on my bed, an hour passes and I'd just think WTF happened to that hour? Felt like I had only been there for a minute or so.
Also unrelated to boxing, but when we were kids my brother hit me with a bag and I hit my head against a wall. We continued walking home, I sat down for a couple of minutes then all of a sudden... woke up! ...having slipped unconscious for a moment. Massive disorientation :huh
Never in boxing but in rugby and at work several black outs and 2 concussions. One concussion i picked up a fatty in a match to dump him (long story) and while doing it he grabbed my head and ddt my head into the ground. When i finally woke up the concussion was terrible. Not knowing who everyone was or where i was. Getting stressed out not understanding what was going on and asking the same questions over again.
I've been out in Hockey before. Not cool. Never in boxing though. It's never been that extreme for me.
Judging by some of the responses I'm guessing being put under for surgery is like getting K.Od. When getting surgery, I don't even remember counting; I woke up and literally was asking "When are they going to do the surgery" when it turns out it was already done. It didn't feel like I was asleep, it was just a big blank spot in time
closest ive been is doing a bit of sparring a few years ago and jumped in with an accomplished amatuer for a bit of a move around. when the bell goes he circles the ring once with this really placid style. Im thinking "ok were just going to do a bit of light stuff" then he just blasts me with a full power right cross straight on the point of my chin. Hes trying to hurt me. its a total dog act. I saw the white flash, i hear my neck crunch and smell the leather. my feet seem glued to the floor and it feels like ive been standing still for about seven seconds before my first concious thought returns. i didnt go down but i may as well have been asleep on my feet.
At school i was choked out by an old class mate of mine sort of by accident, he had me in the rear naked a bit too long then suddenly i was on the floor with water all over my face, i didnt know id passed out but everyone said i was there for a while so i must have, no flashing of white lights though? i thought that was only on cartoons lol.
