Just curious, are y'all starting to get that SOMETHING is wrong with the Moses Itauma narrative?

i didn't fall for the Itauma hype though i did regard him as an excellent prospect. However, i always believed his success was not a 100% guarantee.

But i don't think there is any comparison between Itauma and Anderson. Itauma is way faster and more powerful than Anderson, and is a natural southpaw too.

 

You called it, I never believed the hype either. I think it's down hill for Itauma from here, now everyone has seen how to beat him he will have to totally reinvented himself and that takes time...

 

I think Frank was thinking Itauma isn't stupid enough to try to ko an iron chinned Hrgovic.

I am not sure how many fights vs guys like Franklin could have prepared Itauma for someone like Hrgovic. He had this fight. All he had to do was box carefully in the last 4 rounds. Jesus Christ. What poor boxing IQ.

 

We now know the issue: it isn’t chin, it’s gas tank. This is fixable.

take him to serious altitude, spend months living there and doing nothing but cardio and calisthenics daily. Run him until he pukes every day, then run him some more.

have all future camps at high altitude too.

you do that, he’s unstoppable.

 

Sanchez would have been a better option.

Gassiev is dangerous and even if Itauma would beat him, it wouldn't have taught him how to deal with tall skilled heavies. But you are right; better to fight Gassiev than Whyte.

 

Everyone keeps using descriptives like “exceptional, highly talented, possible GOAT, etc” for Itauma. Now we see the truth. He’s average. And he was matched with fairly easy opponents to make him out to be better than he was. Does he have a future? Sure, and he can probably even win a strap again, but now everyone knows his balloon has popped. He’s a bit overly energetic for a few rounds, then he’s done. If he resorts to fighting like a normal HW, meaning you keep energy in reserve for a full 12 rounds, then he will probably become an average HW. Or try to KO opponents early on, with the risk of gassing out quickly, a al Big Bang Zhang.

 

i know people were getting carried away with him. But i wouldn't say he is average. His speed and power are exceptional. Its his boxing IQ and pacing that are below average.
