12.5mill is 6x more than Hybrid has ever made - that's not a bad starting offer given he'll only be in the ring for a couple of rounds before Joshua ktfo's him. That's 1 mill per minute.

Negotiations had started, wilders team ignored it and then wilder sent personal email's offering a silly deluded counter offer..

A fighter making silly demands/made up silly offers after the attempt of negotiations is just nonsensical....

This is the entire point and the reason between the seemingly poles apart offers. The dispute lies in the nature of the ballpark.

Hearn says that the fight takes place at Wembley, in front of 90k Joshua fans and selling up to say 2m UK Sky PPV packages. Matchroom's regular sponsors and the international rights makes the pot. From that he says that the 12.5mn equates to 25-35% depending on how the fight does against progression. His offer looks like 30% therefore but with no risk/upside depending on how well it does. It's on the low side of what Wilder would hope for but in pure dollar terms it's easily his biggest ever payday and there's a rematch clause which could see him clear near 40m USD.

The problem with this offer isn't so much the amount or the percentage as it is the format. Finkel and Haymon can't accept because if the fight outperforms projections Wilder takes less in percentage terms and they look like idiots. If Hearn in negotiation said 'ok, you can have the middle range figure, 30% as a percentage then I think most observers would think, 'ok, not ideal, you would've hoped for more, but he has 3/4 belts to your one and win this fight and the rematch and you are potentially 50m USD better off AND you're now undisputed and can name your price for subsequent fights. Take the fight, beat him or not you're a wealthy man at the conclusion.

That was how I think the fight could've been made. Tough, but fair considering Joshua brought in the vast majority of the revenue, the belts, the international recognition etc. All the things Wilder lacks and all worth paying for, metaphorically speaking...

Finkel and Haymon dispute the value of the fight. The UK has an earnings ceiling, Vegas is much higher, if the fight sells. They want to say that the value comes from AJ AND their guy Wilder coming together and as such Deontay deserves a bigger share. If they're right then both fighters can make far more money from a US based fight. Unfortunately we don't know if they're right because they took their bat and ball home and refused to talk...

Anyway, sorry for another longwinded post. Where do you see the ballpark and what constitutes a fair offer?

I misread your first post last night, it was 3AM when I responded, sorry…I appreciate your different point of view on the back and forth between camps, it’s more in depth than how I’m looking at it but, I think it’s fair…

I’m looking at it from a little more distance without getting too caught up in the details, forest through the trees, at least I’m trying to…both sides know how to make this fight if they really wanted it and I don’t see either side truly ‘negotiating’ in good faith, which I think you somewhat agree…

The Parker fight provided a pretty easy template to work off of, the biggest issue being percentages, which I think most would agree anything 33% - 40% would be reasonable, probably closer to the 33%.

I think both camps would rather see this fight later as opposed to sooner and the fans are getting the run around with their antics, which are kind of amusing at times…I also think Joshua and Wilder want the fight tomorrow if they could…but the $ guys always win out on this one…

I appreciate your responses and the insight.
