Haye doing bigger numbers than Froch.

    Couple things led to this..

    1. Sky promoted David Haye more than Froch
    2. David Haye wasn't well known at all by the public prior to the Enzo Mac fight, in fact, I would say it was the Valuev fight that finally got Haye widespread recognition.
    3. Haye has charisma that Froch lacks. I like Froch and I get his wry sense of humour but to most people, he just comes across as a bit of a *****.

IT has been a LONG TIME since I struggled to get onto ESB during or just after a fight. I can confirm this happened for me last night during the Hatton bill.

Im a huge Froch fan. But its easy to see that Hatton has a fanbase at least five times that of Froch, but, then its the same for any other brit fighter.

    My thoughts exactly.

Look at the Bute fight for instance, that guy came over to Frochs neck of the woods to fight him, & after losing, acted like a gentleman, even openly applauding Froch when he was announced the winner, made no excuses & went quietly back home to continue his career.

Since then all Froch has done is bring the guy up in every interview, gloating about how he beat him up, & sneering about Bute even having the audacity to think about a rematch, cos Froch says he will give him a thrashing, its going to be another annihilation etc... & now all of SKY are joining in too, McCrory giggling like a little girl after Froch beat Mack when Butes name was invariably brought up again, "oh Butes better run" or words to that effect.

Classless, ****ish stuff when all Bute did was lose a fight ffs. Shame Carl isnt so cocksure when it comes to Andre Ward:hey

I totally respect Carl as a fighter, but his sneering arrogance makes me want to call him cocknose. I mean, ****in hell, he was sneering over at Mack all deadly serious "you are going to feel the wrath of the cobra" cos Mack said he was a poor mans Calzaghe. I mean who ****in talks like that??? Talk about taking yourself too seriously:lol::patsch

Frochy has just felt the wrath of McCaff:fire

    Agree with that, well said.

I respect Froch as a fighter, but he comes across abit up his own arse to me, and listening to him speak at times, he can't seem to help slagging off other British fighters.

The stick Ricky Hatton gets on here at times is ridiculous, a proper man of the people, just a normal down to earth lad, who always is respectful.

Hatton comes across as much more down to earth, friendly, and approachable. Whether he is or he isn't is not the issue, because he comes across that way, and that's all that matters to the public. Froch may be the better fighter, but in terms of charisma and personality he is nowhere close to Hatton. He has a monotonic voice, nondescript accent with a slight hint of chav, has shown his bitter side with his digs at other boxers, and just looks and sounds like he takes himself way too seriously. He could be a great guy when you get to know him, privately away from the cameras, but in front of the cameras he is horrendous. You see a lot of interviews where he talks about how great he is and how he did this and that (how many times has he mentioned the Bute performance?).

Ricky Hatton knows how to play up to the jack the lad image. Pies, guiness, funny way of talking ("lickle" instead of "little) etc. In front of the camera he is levels above Froch. Once again, in reality things could be very different, who knows? but in front of the camera, Hatton comes across as a nice guy with a sense of humour, and Froch comes across as a boring guy up his own arse.

Who would you rather go out for a drink with? a "consummate professional" or a guy who will sink 10 pints of guiness, grab the mic and start singing? That's what it comes down to. In reality Froch could be much better company for all we know, but on camera he doesn't show it.

Froch did once boast that he had 'retired' Mikkel Kessler...not exactly great sportsmanship...

I'd say that Froch is less popular, but also less unpopular too.

Hatton isn't everyone's cup of tea, and the ''I'm normal, me''/''man of the people'' crap went a long time ago. It's fair to say that he's been an arrogant knob ever since he beat Castillo, and a self pitying drama queen since he lost to Floyd.

    Let's be real here.

Froch meanwhile is just who he is. There's no side to him, no heirs and graces. If he doesn't like you he's probably got enough swag to just poke you in the chest and say ''I don't like you'', and juts eyeball you before walking off.

I bet he's not much less popular than Hatton in their respective home towns.
