I posted this in the Brit a while ago and it went down quite well, so thought i'd post it here: Would you rather..... Just for a bit of fun, I thought i'd start a thread, just see to what people's preferances are. So, here goes: Would you rather 1 - Win an Olympic Gold Medal or win a Paper World Championship? 2 - Headline at MSG or MGM? 3 - Go 10-0 (8 KOs) against guys with losing records, or go 8-2 (5 KOs) against 5 fighters with winning records? 4 - Train in the USA or in the UK? 5 - Have a world class jab or a world class straight? 6 - Win the WBA, WBC, WBO or IBF World Title? 7 - Be a 3 weight World Champion (a proper world champion), or dominate a single division for 5 years? 8 - See your favourite fighter outclassed over 12 rounds, losing a shutout, or see him blasted out of their in 3 rounds having won the first 2? Extra Questions: 1 - Dr Mo - would you rather get banned for steroids or get caught with dodgy wraps? 2 - Dr Mo - Would you rather have a shaky chin & great powers of recovery or have an iron chin & a paper face? 3 - Vano - Would you rather have the perfect left hook to the body, or the perfect right uppercut on the inside? 4 - Vano - Would you rather be extremely heavy handed, but the slowest of the top contenders in your division, or be faster than everyone, but have only medicore power, say 60% (not a Calzaghe 60% I will add) Please post a few words as to why you would rather do one thing and not the other. :bbb
1 - win a Paper World Championship 2 - MGM - if it gives me more money 3 - Go 10-0 (8 KOs) against guys with losing records- fans are fickle - think am a bum if I lose early- reduce paychecks 4 - Train in the USA or in the UK? UK - Tibbs or Shannon 5 - world class straight- with jab you can control a fight but right hands can get you KO's and attention - leading to more money 6 - WBC - Like the Beslt 7 - Be a 3 weight World Champion (a proper world champion) - better for P4P ranking and more money most likely 8 - See your favourite fighter outclassed over 12 rounds, losing a shutout, or see him blasted out of their in 3 rounds having won the first 2? depends which inflicts more damage on the fighter -- 1 - Steroids - blame it on fitness coach or someone else 2 - Would you rather have a shaky chin & great powers of recovery - Paper skin can lose you fights, with that it will make you more exciting = more viewers = more money 3 - Left hook to the body - I have dropped people with it and it's a great feeling 4 -be faster than everyone, but have only medicore power, say 60% (not a Calzaghe 60% I will add) - can still get stoppages with accumilation - JC wasn't feather fisted he did often back people up even Kessler with one two's - being slow means you can be outboxed
I'd you rather 1 - Win an Olympic Gold Medal, too many ham-and-eggers have won a paper title. Olympic gold is a elusive as the road runner. 2 - Headline at MSG. There's too much historical relevance at MSG that I want to be a part of it. 3 - Go 8-2 (5 KOs) against 5 fighters with winning records. Imagine going 8-2 (5 KOs) to guys with losing records. 4 - Train in the USA. 5 - Have a world class jab. Jab Paves way to every stright I will throw. 6 - Win the WBC title. 7 - Be a 3 weight World Champion. 8 - See my favourite fighter blasted out of their in 3 rounds having won the first 2.
1 - Win an Olympic Gold Medal or win a Paper World Championship? Depends. If by Paper World Championship, you mean something other than a WBC, WBA, WBA, IBF or Ring championship. Than I'd go with the Gold Medal, but if it means one of the WBC, WBA, WBA, IBF or Ring championship when there is a "ligit" champion estlablished. I'd go with the papper championship. 2 - Headline at MSG or MGM? Boxing's biggest fights happen in Las Vegas. At the MGM, and Mandlay Bay. 3 - Go 10-0 (8 KOs) against guys with losing records, or go 8-2 (5 KOs) against 5 fighters with winning records? With 10 fights I should be in the devlopment, confidance building stage of my career. I'd rather start out 10 (8)-0 than 8 (5)-2. Regardless of my oppoents records. I will need to step up soon though. My goal is to be a champion after 20-25 bouts. 4 - Train in the USA or in the UK? UK - Tibbs or Shannon. I have no idea what or who Tibbs or Shannon is or are. So I'm going to avoid that part. I'd rather train in the U.S. First of all it is more convient for me. Secondly There are better trainers in the U.S. Have a world class jab or a world class straight. A jab dose a lot. It allows scoring from a distance. It is as much a defensive weapon as much as it is an offensive one, and it sets up the other punches. I'd rather have a a world class straight. The jab dose not have have to be perfect. It just has to be used. In my opinion the other punches need to be perfect or as close to perfect as possible. 6 - Win the WBA, WBC, WBO or IBF World Title? I've always liked the IBF best. However the WBC and WBA have a longer history. The WBA is the longest running championship and the WBC seames to be the most respected by the boxers. My last choice is the WBO. 7 - Be a 3 weight World Champion (a proper world champion), or dominate a single division for 5 years?. Depends on who I have to beat. 8 - See your favourite fighter outclassed over 12 rounds, losing a shutout, or see him blasted out of their in 3 rounds having won the first 2?. The 12 rounds.
