The topic of this thread makes absolutely no sense. Boxing is just a small fraction of MMA. Not everyone wants or tries to make it in boxing. That theory is absurd.
So you're the best pea shooter in the world and can beat anyone in pea shooting....... But you're suggesting it's wise to enter a gun fight armed with only your pea shooter.....:nut
I'd love to see Mayweather vs Faber, Penn, Sherk, or some random amatuer MMA fighter. He'd get his arm ripped off and beat with it inside of a minute. I LOVE boxing, and have been a fan for many years - BUT I'm not so stupid to think that it somehow represents the highest form of combat, because it certainly doesn't. Even an untrained guy can grab a top boxer and clinch with him without getting hit/hurt (like Hatton for instance).. imagine a trained wrestler/grappler who knows how to actually shoot in.. it would be hilarious to watch. Heck, Kimbo Slice beat up Ray Mercer with ease, and Kimbo sucks at grappling.
Where did Metal Man go? ****** upped and left after being owned by Boxing Car. Stay gone- ****ing noob ****.:smoke
what....the ****.... mma fighters have been trained on other disciplines like judo, karate, greco roman wrestling, jiujitsu et al. they are 2 different sports. and a mma fighter has more tools in his arsenal compared to a boxer. figure it out you know that right?atsch
Boxing and MMA are two entirely seperate worlds. So why all the comparisons? I dont get it. If you take any man out of his element, he's going to fail more than likely in another genre of competition. Wrestling helps not one iota in boxing, and boxing doesnt do **** for you when you're slapped in an arm bar or guillitine choke. And neither do **** to defend against the great kickers, not really anyways.
You provide some good arguments and food for thought. For one, youve misconstrued what i mean by labelling boxing the ultimate combat sport.Obviously boxing has a limited set of rules which allow only point scoring to designated points of the upper body so its not all encompassing.Virtually all the combat sports are the same. The best example i can think that emphasises what i mean by that would be the attitude kids grow up with.In virtually any school, neighbourhood etc one of the first things thats established amongst boys of a healthy disposition is a hierachey based on toughness.Whos the best fighter as it were and the image projected in many minds is someone that displays speed, reflexes and power.Someone that knocks people out and leaves them on their back. These same attitudes though are very dominant in grown up mainstream sports fans. For as long as Judo, wrestling have been around these sports although highly skilled and historically revered have never achieved the mainstream status or mass television global appeal except amongst a hardcore fan base and guys who coach and compete in the sport but thats it.The world would rather watch a Tyson than a Karelin because although both awesome freaks of nature Tyson displays the skills specific to his sports framework that draws the excitment. I have a cousin thats very into MMA in which ive been able to watch a a few recent PPVs with him and from what ive seen this attitude sadly is reflected in many of the so called MMA fans who buy tickets for these events to then boo a wrestler who has the audacity to take down his opponent where he can use his art to achieve dominant position. My thread title was tongue in cheek.I respect MMA as it is an all encompassing sport that allows well trained dedicated amateur wrestlers and JJ practitoers room to compete in a professional capacity and earn mo money as Money would say but why then do a large number of these fans boo these athletes for using these very disciplins in their new sport. Its unfair on these guys as it then forces them out of their well trained comfort zones to stand and trade just to provide entertainment to the toothless hicks and the guys who have individual strands of hair 3 ft long on their chins therefore taking away the true appeal of the sport making it in many ways a sloppy striking fest thats vastly inferior to even a mid tier boxing card.
I suppose you think your scoring cool brownie points by labelling me a noob a term internet bandits like you throw around.***** punk or punk *****[ i cant decide which order sounds better ] unlike you ii have a life and dont live by the net
Fans boo at UFC events because they have the same attitude as you. As far as kids fighting and asserting dominance, when I was a kid it was the wrestlers who usually beat up the other kids. You should just give up with the idea that MMA fighters are crap and leave the MMA forum you obviously have a deep seeded hate towards MMA fighters and your man-love for Mayweather is clouding your mind.
You should rephrase that. Fans only boo at UFC EVENTS. Go East, you'll never hear fans boo'ing when a fighter pulls guard. Those idiots wouldnt know the diffrence between a left straight and a Omoplata.
The japenese people would sit there and watch anything and not boo, that's the way they are. If the UFC went to Japan do you think they would start booing?? Your grasping for every straw against the UFC is almost pathetic.
It called respect. The Japanese have it, us Americans are impatient ignorant *******s. American fans boo'ed PrideFC events also. Its ignorance kind of like what you are showing with your blind faith to our American MMA org.
i understand the respect part of the Japenese people bur Scur makes it sound like people are booing ufc product because it is crap and pride was so great that it was never booed. It's not just Americans who boo, Britain and Canada also had booing as well.
It is part of world culture. Boxing and football are two sports played in every country in the world. All you need are your fists or your feet. :good
