Really been only keeping up with Floyd Mayweather, GGG, Rigo and Lara. and in UFC i've really only been watching Jones and McGregor. So I'm behind in the combat sport scene. When I was a die hard boxing fan I mainly liked fighters who threw a lot of volume like Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams. Is there any active boxers out today that are avid volume punchers?
You have been missing out on and will love Giovani Segura, then. I haven't seen a fight since Segura vs. Calderon I that I enjoyed more. And the rest of his championship-level career, with only an exception or two, are also all action packed dramatic wars.
Thank you man I'll check them out ! Good ol' boxing practically every fight is on youtube : ) Any slick volume punchers you can think of? I know after Williams is in a chair (god bless him) and margarito retired (sucks he had his rep tarnished by damn illegal hand wraps) I feel as if no punching machines have taken his place. And it looks like people are still dodging Rigo lol
Leo Santa Cruz throws high volume. The extent of his overall skill and resume is a highly debated subject on this forum.
This. Roman Gonzalez (the new Pound for Pound King as of 9/13/15) Juan Francisco Estrada Kazuto Ioka Giovani Segura (no longer ranked along these top guys, but still class) Literally all 4 of them make my "top 10 most entertaining boxers" list at the moment. With several other entertaining notables in the division.
...did Segura retire? It has officially been over a year since he fought (dropped from all the rankings), and nothing scheduled.
I read recently that he is going to have a tune up either September or October... When it seemed Viloria was unwilling, Segura was being considered as one of two options for Roman's next fight as recently as the week before Roman/Viloria got signed. Then I read the article talking about the tune up after that, so not too long ago.
