Oscar has lost 4 out of his last 5 fights. Not only does he lose, but his fights are boring. Hopkins and Oscar ... sparring only. Mayweather and Oscar .. boring.
He takes every advantage known to boxing and still loses. He can't go past 8 rounds without geting sluggish and worn out. His stamina is ****, his legs are gone and yet he will still demand a catch weight and probably 30 million dollars. All of the above and yet guys will still shell out 59.95 to watch this fight. It's called Oscarmania with every Oscarsexual known to mankind shelling out their hard earned dollars to see Oscar lose again. Unbelievable!!!

    Oscar: 5' 10-1/2" 73 inch reach

    Cotto: 5' 7" 67 inch reach

Oscar one punch knockout power in left hook, but no stamina.

Cotto better insist the fight is at 147 lbs.

Oscar thinks he's going to kill three birds in one fight-make money, promote himself, and promote his new cash cow Mayweather. I think he'll just make money as usual.

    STFU, what would you do

    1. Fight Cintron for $1-1.5 million
    2. Fight Paul Williams for $1-1.5 million
    3. Fight DLH for $5-10 Million

And if you wouldn't pick option #3, then YOU'RE the FOOL....

DLH would do what Judah, corley and Torres couldn't. That is finish cotto off.

DLH has never lost to a slugger, brawler or puncher.

He only has problems with very fast or slick fighters.

DLH at this point is still ten times better than Judah, Corley and Torres and has all the tools to beat Cotto.

Oscar would knock Cotto out before the half way mark, thats for sure. Just because Oscar isnt in his prime anymore doesnt necessarily mean he isnt good. Oscar has the skills alone to beat any top 10 welter.

At 147 Oscar would not beat half of the Welters as he would be through after 6. Hell he can't even go past 8 or 9 at the heavier weight. Beat any top 10 Welter is absurd. He's lost 4 out of his last 5 fights. and don't forget, according to Oscar .... "I'm in the best shape of my life!"
4 out of 5. It's over for the Golden Fishnet. Cotto wil win if it's at 147 but that's not Oscars way. He must have a huge advantage so it will probably be at a catch weight of 150, maybe even 152. Huge advantage but it seems he can't win no matter how much advantage he always seems to get.

It's obvious that if Cotto wants to make the most money right now, that's the fight to take but he's risking his undefeated record and future marketability.

I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. The reason Mayweather/Hatton isn't happening this spring is Mayweather. He's the one who has taken himself out of the equation. That leaves Williams, Cintron, Margarito, and DLH for Cotto to fight. Which do you think makes the most sense from a money/PPV standpoint? Of course DLH/Cotto. We're talking over 1 million PPV buys easy. Plus, if Cotto wins (which he should) then he'd be a MUCH bigger name then before, and it would probably be enough to get Mayweather to come out of "retirement" and finally make that superfight.

Look at this fight as the equivalent of when Trinidad fought Pernell Whittaker in 1999. It is a chance for a young champion to beat an older, big name, and set himself up for a megafight against an undefeated champion.

He has the skills to beat some of the top welterweights...but not at welterweight.

DLH ain't fighting at 147. Just wait and see when this Cotto-De La Hoya fight is announced.

Worst case: Oscar @ 152 lbs lands the big left hook and brutally K.O.'s Cotto.

Then Cotto's questionable chin might be fractured forever.

Cotto needs to make Oscar move down to 147 and then give
    Oscar a beating.

I don't really get your logic... You say May-Cotto is a megafight, therefore Cotto should not face Oscar, because he may lost... but if Cotto is that "weak", why is May-Cotto a megafight?

Cotto HAS TO beat Oscar if he wants to be the no. 1 contender of Mayweather. Personally I think he won't be able to beat him. The Mosley fight was very close and Mosley's defence and strategy were horrible. I do not underrate Cotto and appreciate his achievements, he is surely a p4p prospect, but Oscar fights more intelligent than Mosley. He has the power and the handspeed to beat Cotto.

I say Oscar by close, maybe split decision. I really hope this fight happens, De La Hoya deserves one last shot.

I kinda agree with Kellerman...can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth!

I think that DLH has the skills to outbox Cotto and that he won't get suckered into fighting the wrong kind of fight like Mosely did.

    DLH UD12 Cotto

I doubt De La Hoya would agree. He's used to having guys come up in weight to fight him (or in the Hopkins case, a catchweight). He's the big money guy so he can get little advantages like that and the opponents will still agree because of the money.

Why would De La Hoya choose to give up an advantage?
