He showed how to beat the Mayweather defence. Speed, intellegence, and more speed. In other words, there are no Sugar Ray's around today nor has there been since Sugar Ray. ****en incredible to watch, my favorte of all time.

It breaks my heart as a RJ nuthugger but SRL is a superior fighter to RJ. Quite simply, he does anything he can LEGALLY to win. He is a winner through and through and will do anything to acheive it. As good as he was, he was even better at manipulating his opponent's minds, IMO. Before he fought Hagler, he frustrated Hagler with his compliments and wouldn't give Hagler any mental edge.

    Great fighter.

Ray was phenomenal. There's really the simplest way to break it down. Even though I consider the Hearns rematch a loss, I still think SRL should be considered the best P4P fighter of his generation and the highest since then. Unless you're a diehard fan of a fighter that lost to Ray, I don't know how anyone can honestly hate on him.

    Yep.

What Duran, Hearns, Benitez and Hagler failed to do, Mayweather KO's the bum in 5.

Fights lasted 15 rounds back then.
That era of boxing will never be forgotton or repeated Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran. Legends!! You had to be living in them days to apprieciate.

well for me he is the best welter weight evr lived. he was like a machine. great handspeed, great chin, great accuracy he had it all.

your not gonna see to many welterweights in your lifetime that can beat a middleweight that is as good as hagler a WELTERWEIGHT then went on to beat a light heavy weight in don lalonde who wasnt bad. its the equivelent of a welterweight today in five or six years fighting clinton woods and stopping him. i mean woods isnt that good but it would be seriously hard for a welter weight to go up there and beat him.
also srl beat a peak hearns and beat duran twice.
had benitez of been around now he would be a real force and yet srl stops him in great fashion in the fourteenth.
leonard was beating great fighters in 15 round fights and still pulling off big power in later rounds so imagine is gameplan over 12 rounds he could easily sprint through them sort of rounds.

srl all time best? for me yes

When he fought Thomas Hearns the first time they were all Hitman this Detroit that.. and it was all tough Tommy , Bad Tommy .. what people didn't know was , the bad mother****er was really hiding behind the American darling facade.. Ray was the bad mother and always was. Ray was sugar sweet but a staunched Killer when he gritted his teeth... Yes sir , Ray indeed was BAD...:yep
