Wasn't Donald Curry also known a bit to enjoy the party scene a little too much, which may have played a role in his weight problems?
Great fighter. I was just thinking how big a favourite he was for the Honeyghan fight? Probably as big as Pavlik is now, facing Lockett:think
Pavlik is 1/33 with most bookies I checked on the internet. I'm putting a little bet on Lockett to just win at 9/1. You never know cos a banger has always got a chance.
well actually I just checked with William Hill Pavlik is 1/16 on now but it was 1/33 before and Lockett has come in to 7/1 so I take from them odds pattern some people are getting their money on Lockett for a upset
How good was Donald Curry? He was picking Mike Mccallum apart and he wasn't even at his best.He gave Norris some anxious moments and he was past it by then.He was ahead on the scorecards after 6 rounds against Nunn and Curry was done by then. Curry had alot of mental issues along with a nice little drug problem.Ashame because in top form he was a real treat to watch.
Its a measure of how Curry was regarded that it was regarded pretty much as a given that he'd be world middleweight champion some day when he was a welterweight.
Donald was great , when he lost to Lloyd Honeyghan he found his armour was flawed and his downfall soon came against Mike McCallum. Don also had a brother called Graylin who was pretty decent too..
