Just How PHYSICALLY STRONG is Mayweather?

    Ariza is a big beleiver in weight training, so I am pretty sure that Pac is doing more weightlifting than your post suggests. Not stepping on your toes though, just stating that the old school of just roadwork and bodyweight exercises to prepare for a fight are outdated.

    Yes lifting weights is different from weightlifting. Lifting weights is stuff like bicep curls, leg extensions, etc... These exercises aren't beneficial for combat athletes, especially a boxer ... but weightlifting (deadlifts, squats, presses) which are multijoint exercises are very good exercises for combat athletes

    Yep ... the same can be said for Bradley, JMM, Calazaghe, a prime Hopkins, Andre Ward ... just to name a few

    Nice post. Yeah thats the thing. I am all for fighters to use exercises such as deadlifting, squatting, etc... for strengthtraining ... but at the end of the day fighters should focus 75% of their training into fighting. Strength training and what not is supplemental to a fighter and they should't spend too much time into it when preparing for a fight.

    I think you're referring to powerlifting or "olympic style weightlifting" when you say "weightlifting", and many elite trainers and boxers would disagree with you when you say that deadlifts, squats and presses are what they should be doing. Roger Mayweather, for example, doesn't like his guys to do presses at all, and the only weight excercises I've seen Floyd do are lat pull downs, weighted neck excercises and shadowboxing with small weights in his hands. Also, there are all types of "combat athletes" and what's good for a wrestler in MMA isn't necessarily good for a boxer, etc.

    Watch pictures of weigh-ins on those fights and you will see a noteble change in his upper body structure.

    Actually i found them for you in almost the same pose too, can see his neck/chest and shoulder area are way stronger, and if you take the effort to look at more pics you will see his arms are bigger too.

    Multiple pundits commented on that Floyd used the layoff to get physicly stronger so he could compete better with the welters and up.
    Why do you think he just stands right infront of them and walks them down?
    He was unable to do this before.

    A lot of people also commented on that Floyd looked as big or even bigger than Mosely who is considerd a quite a big welter himself.

    He had negligible body fat before his lay off, so its safe to say he didnt lose any fat.

    If he didnt lose any body fat and hasnt increased in weight,where exactly does this new muscle fit in??

    He was 150 against Oscar De La Hoya and he was 150 against Ortiz.
    Both fights with similiar body fat.

    Hes the same.

    yeah he looks the same to me, maybe one day he did his neck exercises a bit harder and had a bit of a pump, but it looks exactly the same. It's Mosley who looks smaller than he used to at welter, training to the weight making him lose muscle at his age. Mosley's waist looks super small in his last two fights at welter; I don't think he looked that frail in his early 30s.
