    LOOOOOL

Lewis landed his best punches on Vitali's chin (including that monsterous uppercut) and couldn't even knock him down. I'm sure Lewis at 37 didn't hit any less hard than at 32-34. His reflexes had diminished, but his power was still the same.

I don't agreee with Pulev fight outcome, but overall you are right. Vitali's skin was too weak. Kevin Johnson was running from him all night long and arely landed about 10 punches, but Vitali's face was badly marked after that fight -

Good post and true observations. Vitali was too easy to hit against other SHWs.. Its why his career is riddled with short non-athletic C levellers.

This. Never got the hype behind Vitali. He was more mobile than Wlad and had faster hands, but overall Wlad was by far the superior fighter. Vitali took the easy way out against Byrd, who would've stopped him if he didn't quit and let an old washed up Lewis stop him. Wlad's been stopped several times, but he wasn't a cherry picker like Vitali.

Kingpin literally stood right in front of him from the first round till the last.. You can watch here and see for yourself.

I think most guys who overrate Vitali only remember him from the Lewis fight and don't remember or haven't seen all his other fights.
There are many instances where Vitali displayed boxing skill as crude , ugly and unrefined as Deontay Wilder. His fights against Johnson and Gomez for example looked like an Abbot and Costello sketch.
I don't think that Johnson was any worse than the one Joshua annihilated in the first round.

I see Fury, Joshua, Klitschko, Lewis in the first tier.

Then the likes of Vitali in the second one.

All got some weakpoints. But Vitali relied on his physiqual attributes more so than the others. Corrie Sanders was tall enough and fast enough to prove that he was not unbeatable. And Lewis exposed his lowguard leanback style combined with bad facial bone structure and skin. Wlad had the same problem but to a less extent. Also a much better defence that he showed against Fury. But even he looked more torn up in his face against Fury than after Joshua. Its a shame Lewis-Wlad never happened. Also Lewis-Vitali 2. Even if past prime Lewis had lost the rematch he would have gotten more respect just like past prime Wladimir got after the losses to Fury and Joshua.

It would be like a kid in a candy store. The only thing that might thwart his long term dominance over the division would be injuries.
