They are the biggest stars now in the division. underappreciated - yes, but they are the superstars of NOW. If they left the sport there would be no one to follow their steps, it would be like the Lost Era of Don Kings heavyweights in the 80s. A bunch of interchangeable little known names winning and losing titles back and forth. It would be almost impossible to get total unification with how the politcs work today. At least the Klitschkos are trying to get unification under their name, despite the efforts of certain powers that be who are plotting against them.

When the Klitschkos retire it's going to be a big mess of confusion in the HWT division. At least we know who is the best now. After the Klitschkos we may not know who is the undisputed BEST for a long time.

    Miss the Klitschkos?

It's my opinion that if we had suspended the heavyweight division from the moment that Lennox Lewis retired until now, we wouldn't have missed anything worthwhile. That includes the Klitschko brothers.

"A bunch of interchangeable little known names winning and losing titles back and forth" is a bit of a glass half empty interpretation IMO. You could say it would be more competative and there would be more good fights, but only because the overall quality would have been reduced.

I think they would be missd because they bring a love it or hate it style to the table, and that alone brings in interest.

    Agreed.

People call others haters because they state that they don't like a fighters style.I don't like Wladimirs style. It tends to make boring fights that are not good viewing.Doesn't mean I hate the bloke. Not atall.I wouldn't miss them

I guess you're right. If we didn't have the Klitschkos,we wouldn't have the Haye/Wladimir fight and the interest that it has generated already.:good

Imagine boxing without the Klitschkos? I don't think it would have made a difference to most fans and not a single fan would have missed out on anything spectacular. You got pretentious nuthuggers like Ruskull, Widdow_Maker, calling themselves "real fans", getting misty eyed and crap, working themselves up to the verge of crying, how awesome it is to watch Wlad, but nah.

I like Vitali, but he looked pretty old tonite and kinda lumbering, not as polished as Wlad, but alot tougher and has a 10x better chin. With or without the Klits, the division still sucks dick, but I think they do more good than bad though.

fight fans have a poisoned set of expectations about contemporary heavyweights. they have been waiting angrily for another mike tyson or evander holyfield...a scary, unpredictable murderous puncher who was born to wreak havoc in the ring or a supremely dedicated, massively tough perpetual underdog who, with an even temper, weathers frightful storms of fistic fury and battles his way back on the strength of an unbreakable will, a giant heart and a deep reservoir of unlikely comebacks. those fighters' days passed and comparing every champ in the division to the battle standard of rare and elite warriors such as iron mike and the real deal is not realistic or productive. we have to measure the talent of the champions at hand objectively. personally, i love a war, but i can also see the merit and the entertainment value in something like klitschko v. imbragimov...which i thought was an awkward chess match that really demonstrated how a patience and economic punching can pull victory from a stylistic mess...i felt the same way about klitschko v. thompson. vitali and vlad are never going to be insane knockout artists or spartan warriors--though vitali came close against lewis, i think. so we have to adjust our expectations a bit.

I'm still watching Tyson's fights, but the Klithshko? Come Vitali is like a mommy and Wlad have the weakest chin in heavyweight history
