Algieri would take a beating so harsh it wouldn't even be funny. Floyd would Gatti him and stop him in the middle rounds. Algieri is a B level fighter at best. This fight is a farce and the catchweight makes it 5x worse.
"Gatti him" Are you implying that a shot, war-torn Gatti is on par with Algieri???? Algieri is in over his head here for sure, but if he was fighting Mayweather you would be praising the hell out of him and well all know it. :good
When was the last time FLoyd fought a taller fighter who boxed from the outside? Oscar? Algerie would provide a similar challenge as Khan, they are both taller than Floyd, and likes to box from the outside. Algerie better opponent than Maidana, Guerrero or Ortiz.
:deal And he would all of a sudden become credible if he were fighting Mayweather instead of Pac, at least according to MVC!
The catchweight doesn't really make it worse. Just that it's above 140 at all makes it worse than if it was at the only weight Algieri has ever been ranked at or fought a relevant foe, which is 140. But yes, the public outcry if Mayweather signed on to face Algieri fresh off his SD over Provodnikov (which Algieri deserved) would be deafening. He would be all but crucified for dragging the over matched novice up in weight. Yet when Pacquiao signs to fight him, many peoples' scorecards for Algieri/Provodnikov magically and predictably changed to Algieri's favor and he became a big hearted, super smart, undefeated, young, and hungry lion. People complained when Floyd fought Guerrero and Maidana. Imagine if he dragged up a junior welter with only 20 career fights, < 50% KO ratio, and only one top 10 opponent ever faced...
hey look its mvc the clown.:rofl yes just imagine duckweather jr vs algieri an all out pillow fight.:deal
Now he might become credible overnight, because the only way Mayweather would fight someone like Algieri would be if Algieri defeated Pacquiao tomorrow night or if we jumped in a time machine back to 2005. 2014 Algieri >>>>>>>> 2005 Sharmba Mitchell, I'll give you that. But that's how far I'd have to dig back to.
Nah, Algieri is far more credible than the likes of Ortiz, Maidana, and Guerrero. His win over Prov is solid, and while he's in over his head here it's still not a farce of a fight.
MVC! is one of the most biased posters on here, he'd be singing Algieris praise if this were Mayweather instead of Pac. How can you deny that??? Heck, he was praising Rod Salka! atsch
Mr.Mayweather's precision punching, speed, power, footwork would befuddle Algieri to no end. Mayweather would easily outbox him. Algieri would try to find something on the inside after getting frustrated to no end. But Mayweather's inside fighting is top of the line as well and he'd get destroyed in there and knocked out eventually.
