Prov was/is definitely overhyped, but it's still a good win over a feared/ducked fighter that not many people wanted to face...


Ortiz won his title off of Berto, who I don't rate at all... Very mediocre fighter, who was more a less a paper champion during his reign.

Likewise Guerreros best win is Berto who was never really all that great.

Maidana is the only guy you can make a convincing argument for, but as I said it comes down to which you prefer(quantity or quality)

I'm not too high on this fight, and I don't know why I got sucked into this argument.. But it's not as bad as some are making it out to.... It's a mismatch, but not farcical.

 

Also didn't Algieri sa the hardest he has ever been hit was by Maidana in sparring.

 

Hang with as in put up a tough showing, but end up coming short in the end? He's lost to every elite fighter that he's faced, and went life and death against a shot to pieces Morales. As I said, it comes to down quantity v.s quality here. I rate Prov over any win on Maidanas resume, but obviously Maidana has more noteworthy wins.

 

His wins over Ortiz/Broner > Provo/Taylor. You are talking like a razor thin loss vs Khan on top of that somehow makes him look worse?

Competitive win makes him look bad, competitive loss the same?
It's not like Algieri blew Ruslan out the water either.:blood

 

Ortiz is a glass jawed/hearted joke who's career is already over, ***** was a hype job with at least 2 gift decisions going into their fight...(shot Ponce De leon, and Fernando Quintero, who?????)

Maidana loses to boxers, Algieri would box his ears off and his win over Prov triumphs anything on his resume. :deal

 

Slightly off topic here.. Sincerely believe Ortiz is somewhat of a victim of circumstance. Last 3: Got WWE'd by Floyd, got reckless/unlucky and was caught against Lopez. Looked fast and in great shape against Collazo, but went in waaaay over aggressive from the start.
A whole other thread, but somewhat relevant. Blindly hating on Ortiz has become popular. I still think he could become top dog. He just needs a Virgil Hunter type trainer to get him to not fight dumb, basically. Kinda like Khan.

 

It would really take something for him to rebound... I think he's done, but who knows? Losing to Collazo was the nail in the coffin though, he ought to be beating guys like him..
