Okay so lets get to the bottom of this.....so apart from Bhop (i know he was MW) and RJJ what fighters at SMW should he have faced?

I specify SMW as that is what he will be remembered by and is the weight at which he defended his title for, for so long,

 

Floyd did not fight Cotto or Margarito because of Arum. Neither fighter has the ability imo to beat Floyd. People say floyd ducked Margarito...lol. Baldomir beat Clottey who gave Margarito hell in beating Margarito's up physically in their fight. That decision still bothers me that they had Margarito winning by that much. Clottey looked like he had not been in a fight, and Margarito looked like he was in a car accident. Pavlik still might not be able to beat Cal at his age. Cal in his prime would mop the floor with Pav. Pavlik has to beat Abraham to convince me that he is the best at 160. Right now Arum has Pavlik potentially fighting money fights. Floyd and Calzaghe are too good a fighters to put down so easily.

 

Calzaghe did try to entice Bhop up to SMW 5 or 6 years ago. The deal was done, Hopkins agreed to it, then scuppered the fight by demanding double the money the next day. Basically he chose to wait for a easier fight against De La Hoya at middleweight. This is all well documented.

 

Look, this doesn't even make any sense. I hope you don't think Pavlik has done more than Calzaghe lol. You'd be a fool to believe that. You might not like Cal, but Pavlik's career so far is not even half of what Cal has done. Cal has beaten more than just Kessler and Lacy. Pav fought Taylor twice and who else? Miranda? lol. Pav is still young and proving himself. Don't make yourself look like a fool arguing Pav's done more than Cal...

So who at Super Middleweight should Calzaghe have defended/unified his titles against?

 

Sweetpea had how many fights when he fought Chavez, and who won that fight only to be robbed? The amount of fights means nothing. Olympians are considered more experienced than the average guy turning pro beccause they have fought world class comp as amateurs. Lacy did not look inexperienced until he lost to Calzaghe.

 

If there is one guy he could've fought, it would've been Glencoffe Johnson. That fight was made, and Cal got injured. People think Cal ducked that fight. Before Johnson went to 175, that would've been a great fight.

 

Johnson is way overrated though.

Would Calzaghe have got any credit for beating him though? Of course not. Johnson lost four straight at SMW.

If Calzaghe would get credit for facing Johnson, then surely he should get even more credit for facing and stopping Sheika, who had just beaten Johnson. But he doesn't.
