Jose Martinez is a good ref, and was a decent amateur and professional fighter himself.
There has never been any suspicion to corrupt officiating in any of his matches prior to Braitwaite-Hernandez.
If a ref is going to try to influence the outcome of a match, they would never do it so obviously as helping up a fighter who has been knocked down.

That clip of the Ottke vs Reid fight was just unbelievable, I was getting angry just watching it, I've never seen such a one sided referee in my life..he knocked ottke on his ass and the ref didnt call it a koncokdown then he took a point off reid for using his head when it was Oyyke going in with his first.

I think if that was me I would have walked out of the ring in disgrace or just wanted to punch the ****ing ref....

You all need to chill out, the referee explained his actions, he didn't realise immediately that it was a kd.

I agree with you. On the face of it I can see why so many people would dive right into posting an over the top reply immediately after watching that clip but people don't seem to want take into account all the factors and would much rather claim it was corruption.

Like you said, why on earth would a referee interfere in such a manner if he had been paid off? We can see him waving it off as a slip then when Hernandez doesn't get up quick enough the ref is clearly just trying to prevent him getting a breather by making him stand up, but noticing that he has jelly legs he realises it was a knock down and begins to count. The view we have is different from the ref, we have the benefit of slow-mo replays - he only has a split second to make his decision. He knew there was water in the corner so it is entirely plausible that he believed that he had slipped.

To everyone who disagrees, I do believe that corruption is a massive problem in Boxing right up to the highest level but I just dont think that this particular instance is an example of it. At first sight it may appear so but after condsidering all the evidence and rewatching the incident I think it is entirely innocent.
