What a fight that was, it had everything. i'm not sure many boxers would've been able to beat douglas on that night
ye thedestruction of a guy seen as the baddest man on the planet, still two knockdowns, a ko, a savage combo, back an forth battle...great fight
I wont dispute that it was in fact a great fight. The odds were stacked agaisnt Douglas yet he found a way to prevail. I usually love the underdog but in this case I was a massive Tyson fan. I try my best to avoid rewatching this fight as much as possible.
Douglas was great that night. I think he was like a 100-1 underdog. I remember no one giving him a chance, but he pulled it all together that night. Not many throughout history would've beat him that night. Even after being hurt he got himself back together. He is a fat ass dude now.
Douglas was EXTREMELY sharp on the night. Had he fought like that in every fight he would have been a candidate for greatness.
i re-watched that fight recently and after six rounds, douglas gets a bit lazy. when he was on, he was on. for the rounds he was completely dedicated he was one of the most well rounded, briliant heavies i've seen. but occasionally he'd lapse, hence how tyson was able to catch him. however there were moments throughout that fight that he got sloopy (dropping his hands etc.) but tyson was unable to capitalize. still, the way he pulled it together after the uppercut was amazing and his performance as a whole rates as one of the best all time. i'd certainly put it in my top 10 heavyweight performances, maybe top 5
