If it's not the ref they insist that Hatton had him hurt atsch Just checked out the scorecards... Hatton was 6 rounds down on one card and 8 on the other two... Truth is that Mayweather carried Hatton for his own amusement and could have ended it at any time he wanted...
Not sure if that's true, might have being cautious but the Mayweather's did actually predict how the fight was going to go
Can someone explain to me the point of posters like Guile? I presume he's also the same one who has the Mortal Kombat avatar? is his act meant to be funny in some way? I just dont get it, why go to the effort to create a logon and go on a forum to type gibberish? Seriously, what is he trying to achieve?
Have not rewatched it since the live event but I remember watching it like it was yesterday. There was a RBR on here and loads of people were getting excited early on about hatton's chances. The first 2 rounds or so were a little bit wild but after that Mayweather was starting to counter Hatton expertly. I remember watching it thinking that they are several leagues apart and that fairly quickly Mayweather had Hatton's card marked. Hatton was in Mayweather's pocket somewhere around the mid rounds and he started picking him apart with ease almost making Hatton look like an amateur. Mayweather was never panicked and gradually worked Hatton out and broke him bit by bit. There's nothing else to it and this is no disgrace because Floyd is just a bit special.
Hatton could do that, he could move his head coming in or jab coming in, we saw it in the past - my point is he had the foot speed to beat Mayweather if he used the right tactics, and was allowed to work inside (yes, hitting and holding is against the rules, but holding and hitting is well-within - the best referees let the fighters find their own way out of clinches).

It was competitive but He never looked like beating him. It did show us that mayweather struggled with workrate and aggresion.
1. Not with the level of skill necessary, he's always been careless on the way in anyway and his jab isn't good enough 2. His footspeed is very good, but it didn't matter because he couldn't land punches, which he couldn't, Mayweather was landing pretty much twice as many punches according to boxrec and all the clean punches 3. It wouldn't matter, Floyd did the better work inside, even worked the body better, that was probably a factor in breaking Ricky down actually 4.Umm you do know hitting and holding is exactly the same as holding and hitting, except the words are reversed? I think what you're referring to is 'punch your way out', both fighters have to stop holding and punch, if they don't they have to be split Watch round 4, Hatton is getting his ass kicked at the end of that round. Round 8 is when Mayweather really gets motoring, Hatton nearly got ko'd that round
I felt he got soundly outboxed. Floyd shocked many by fighting in the pocket with Ricky. Yes he used forearms to cover Ricky's eyeline then land shots but he shocked many by going in there and out fighting the fighter. Round 1 the Jab got everyone excited...but really Floyd was knocked off balance and the hysteria of the crowd made it out to be more then what it was. Floyd beat him up and out boxed him, the traps he left for him in that fight were lovely to watch. The half steps back leading him onto shots etc. When Floyd landed the 'check' hook that led to Ricky smashing his cannister of corner was a trap that was being set from early on yet Ricky didn't read it at all. Charged in foolishly and got caught. The point deduction only led to Ricky opening up more and more. Ricky made the fight a entertaining one but really he was losing the rounds but making Floyd work like many before him hadn't. Anyone scoring him more then 2-3 rounds needs to explain that to me cos that's baffling. For me he gave his best...was far far shot of Floyd's class, No shame in that but his ego/confidence was shattered for a while after. Ricky then went away and built his belief back up ''no one can beat me at 140'' that sorta bollocks but he was never the same again.
Exactly, he even roughed Ricky up in close. I don't rate Floyd as highly as most and I think Ricky gets too much bad press from some, but he's not the kinda' fighter required to beat Floyd conclusively!
